What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Changed two light bulbs.

Installed this on my 33 year old Sanborn air compressor. Someone referenced it here on another thread. Comes with a full roll of PTFE tape, FWIW.

Opened up the inspection port on the tank and had a look inside. No "real" rust in there. Amazing.

Continued working on my 74 FLH. Changed out the two 4-1/2" clear spot lamp bulbs for a set of amber ones.

Also did a little straightening up since starting the 74 FLH project the shop has become a real mess.

A Dingo almost sounds like punishment with 160(?) yards of sand and gravel to move around.

I had to move 60T of compacted dirt with an 8Klb, 110hp skid steer equipped with a smooth edge bucket while relearning a twin stick vs. years using a single joystick, that took me 8 hours.

Not really. It's good exercise. I get a lot of walking in.
0700 - took the Dingo out.
0900 - brought the Dingo in and greased it.
0915 - brought the Dingo out.
1130 - brought the Dingo in.

Sunday the people next to me hired a man to do some clearing on their lot.

I talked him into getting the Pine tree down in back of my shop.

It was damaged with the bad hail storm we had in April and it was not going to make it. Tried to pay him but he said no as I helped him out when his truck wouldn't crank.

Today I started the clean up. Lots of work for my wife and I but we are getting there. I ran chainsaw a lot today and now my old body feels it

Tomorrow the rest goes up in flames

Been working on my 74 FLH for a couple months now. I still have the front tire/wheel and brakes to finish.

I started putting my DIY Scotch-Brite-esq grinder wheel to work on some parts for the Craftsman 103.0303 drill press. It cleans up the surface rust nicely and leaves what I find to be a pleasing finish. I had to straighten out the shaft, hence the three bits of wood taped into the vice jaws. From banana to straight-ish in only a few tense please-don't-snap moments!

I also slapped some paste wax on these bits to delay future rusting.

While I was paste waxing I put a coat on the new handle on my palm chisel. I'm new to wood turning and I think it worked out pretty sweet!

Installed a new garage door in my daughter's garage. I had raised the bottom of the rafters and it still wasn't enough to get the opener bar above the door.

So I braced the cross piece to the door header and moved the opener to the back of the garage. A long iron pipe worked perfect to extend the connection.

Made 4 more trusses for the addition. 2 left and those are end trusses so I'll have to modify my jig.

Got back in my garage for the first time in months, started chasing down missing wrenches from my toolbox. Nearly finished still a few AWOL atm.

Not really in my garage but I put batteries in my dads big rig at the lot he parks at. Very simple to do actually as long as you are not a rookie. Forgot to take a picture of the new ones lol.

We have that same boat at work, real stable work platform when were servicing motors out in the wastewater basins with that hull. Don't want to fall out

Last week I took inventory and made a spreadsheet of all my sockets (yeah, I am a data nerd like that). I didn't realize how many sizes I was missing! That was the point though. For years when I would work on things, it would just "seem" like there should be another size between certain sockets, but I never took the time to compare my stock to a size chart and see what sizes I have verses what sizes are out there.

Over the years I have bought used sets, or sets that deliberately skipped sizes. No more! I spent the last week selling off some unneeded/duplicate tools. Every time I sold an item, I ordered one of my missing sockets off ebay. I bought 15 sockets so far, and I have one more to go to fill the last gap. The wife is gonna wonder why I am getting little envelopes every day for a while, lol. But my OCD will finally be at ease knowing I have continuous sets.

Tightened a fitting that's been loosening up over 15 years. Put 4 gallons of fluid in it.

Yesterday I had to play door repair man. A spring broke inside the handle assembly and the knob would not return to center. This was my first attempt at repairing a door handle. Typically they are thrown out and replaced with a new version. I wanted to keep this unit intact since it is part of a set.

After removing a circle clip I was able to disassemble the unit. Then I removed one spring coil and reassembled it. The retaining clip was a pain, but it's back together and appears to be working again. Hoping it works for awhile. Definitely not kwikset quality.

Repurposed an old gun cabinet. Putting all my paint cans in there as well as rattle cans. Trying to get stuff off the floor. In doing so I created several other messes that i now need to clean and find things a new home.

Crank handle on the drill press finally broke. After I moved the drill press and didn't see the 2x4 wedged against it. One more shove...
It was cracked to begin with.
Remembered I had a hand wheel. Turned a sleeve and installed.
So much better now.

Went to soak some rusty tools in vinegar, using my usual tub, but a couple were too long. So I grabbed a long poly bin. Filled it up, plopped the tools in and left. Came back to a wet bench. My bin has a small leak. Grrr. Oh well, started over with another bin, and this time it held. Looking forward to shiny stuff in the morning.

It's so cool when you take old rusty junk and soak it in evaporust or vinegar and pull out sparkly-clean tools later. It's like opening presents, lol.

Got one step closer to heating the garage by adding weather stripping to the garage doors.

Next I need to relocate the attic access to allow for cabinets in the future, then soffit vents, then blow in the insulation, then run gas, and 220v. Then buy a heater and kiss my cheap heating bills goodbye!

I just cleaned up some old tools I got from the pawn shop and put them in with my collection lol the vintage ones went in to my tool storage bin to not be used because I don’t use the vintage ones. Also changed the oil in my dads big rig.

Im restoring all my father's Vintage Craftsman shop tools. Today I painted one of the Vintage tool stands after treating it in evaporust. The pieces are all hanging in there drying tonight for assembly in a few days. Have 4 more tool stands to go then the tools themselves.
