**** it up compressed air vacuum.

Used these in the USAF working on the ACES II ejection seats.
don't want metal shavings shorting out electrically fired explosives,so no blowing allowed, just sucking

Actually handy for cleaning up small technical jobs instead of just blowing off your work.

The retaining ball on my ancient cheap 1/4" air ratchet fell out a long time ago. In Manassas, VA we have a store called the tool truck store. New and used, he's pretty fair with prices. I went in for the 10mm swivel that I somehow lost, and saw this IR 105-L2 for $50. New to me.

All the Vessel JIS drivers made me have to hit up Amazon (the US version) and get a ratcheting driver. I already have some JIS bits for my S-O ratchet drivers but I wanted to try this. Feels smooth and looks well built. Excellent value for $17 bucks on my porch. Going to keep it in my race box for my Yamaha.

Astro 12pt axle nut socket set

OEM spring compressor

Hopefully I keep all my eyes, teeth, and fingers. I've always had access to the nice wall mounted compressors in the past. 20201031_123442.jpeg

Here is my last week's eBay purchase:

From the top view, the MAC star R.B.R.T (on the left) looks the same as the half-cut VIM equivalent.

IMG_20201031_185648658 by david_edelman_ohio, on Flickr

From the side view, the MAC star R.B.R.T has a "bullet-like" to the "V-shaped" profile of the half-cut VIM equivalent.

IMG_20201031_185618847 by david_edelman_ohio, on Flickr

From the side view, the MAC star R.B.R.T has a diagonal 45 degree cut towards the bottom of its sides. The half-cut VIM equivalent does not have this feature.

I love the RBRT stuff. So far I've gotten the standard hex bits, stubby torx, and extended torx in RBRT.

Hi protegeV,

I just got the RBRT hex and torx sets.

Have you used extensively the RBRT sets? If yes, which stripped bolt situations has it helped save you time and major effort?

Thanks,

Dave

Hilman 15 ton equipment dollys. Price “free”. Big shop was closing it doors and these were in the scrap bin. Got the handles too. Too bad the case was nowhere to be found. Gonna make some adapter plates so I can use them to move some of my heavier vehicles that the regular jack dollys can’t handle.

We have a great second hand too store here in Denver, called Charlie’s Second Hand Tools. It has been here for 100 years. Started by grandpa Charlie.

I go in about once a month To have a look around. It is exactly how you want a store like this to look, stuff everywhere, floor to ceiling. They have a special area for USA made tools. That’s where I always start my search.

On Saturday I found a MAC 1/4 extension, Snap On 1/4 extension, a Thorssen universal and a 1/4 Proto universal. They charged me a whopping $15 bucks.

Some NOS awesomeness showed up this past week.

First up, Bahco USA Socket Set (Shallow, Deep, 2 Extensions and Ratchet). Built by Williams / Snap-On. Date Codes show 2001 and 2002 on the sockets and ratchets. I don't know who actually made the ratchet, but I believe it was produced by Williams and is stamped USA.

First set of Koken sockets. They are 3/8 nut grip. Seem well made but the finish is rough, almost purposely textured. I did not expect this. I thought they would be smoothly jeweled due to the effusive praise they receive.

Nice sockets  Ko-ken sockets are "satin" finished or half satin/half polished finish. Many Euro and Asian tool makers use the satin finish and I for one prefer it over polished.

This is on purpose.

Ever notice cheapy socket kits always having shiny polished finishes? Its by no means a measure of quality.

I do like the satin finish, I think more than the full polished. Easier to see the size stamping. Easier on the eyes. I think I am going to round out my deep 1/4 metric set with some Koken singles. They are on sale at PalMac.

The Koken set skipped 16, 18, and 20. Are these sizes not used much in the trade? I’m diy and work on my Jaguar and a 4Runner. More on the Jag than the 4Runner if you can believe it.
