As I posted on my own thread, I'm building a clean workbench and I'm blatantly copying someone's bench from GJ! Today I trimmed the 1/8" plywood to fit the metal trim and screw it in permanently.

The one I'm copying:

My copy so far. Lots more to do.

Can anyone tell me if nutserts will hold in the 3/4" OSB covered by 1/8" plywood?

1959 Ford Ranchero - Carb adjustment and moved onto the street for the night
1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL - Undid previous owner's horrible electrical bodgery and got the headlights working properly (check the fuses before you hack up the wiring harness, people!)
1991 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC - Checked the vacuum modulator on the transmission...yep, new one is going in tomorrow

Put some finishing touches on the new door above workbench. Electrical is next.

Replaced a cracked vacuum line on my wife’s daily driver.

Made a few substitute loads for diagnosing electrical circuits.

Changed the oil in the old snowblower. One more season then I'll look for a new one... (I have been saying that for a while)

Good luck with this. Seems there were a handful of different axle designs over the years and it can be a PITA getting the right one :(

I just went ahead and ordered a used OEM on ebay. Half the price and almost a guarantee it should fit.

Remote school for a friend's 9 year old son. They don't pay teachers enough.

Thanks! It's a direct ripoff of whoever's bench I posted the picture of. I THINK a GJ'er from long ago but don't know who.

What kind of edge moulding is that and where did you get it?

Not sure what it's called. I found it in the drywall area at Home Depot. It comes with a 7/8" opening - which I'm using with 1x lumber for this shelf. The bench surface is 3/4" OSB covered by 1/8" underlayment that I finished with a combo poly/stain. Also comes in a 1/2" opening size. Thanks for your interest.

In keeping with my copying of the picture, I am screwing it into the wood edge using self drilling screws. I could have attached it with HD Construction adhesive so no screw heads show.

Installed Harbor Freight whip hose with swivel fittings between my small Senco twin tank compressor and wall mounted hose reel. Very cheap so I don't know if they'll leak or not? Have to guess "you get what you pay fo" - DAMN! ha ha.

Also mounted my little Craftsman vise on my new clean bench. Yes, I'll fix it up!

In keeping with the blatant rip-off of the other GJ'er's bench I finished the 1x8 shelf above the bench.

After a final coat of Collinite 845 on the tailgate of my ‘08 Tacoma (see picture) I did PM, preventive maintenance, on my truck and my wife’s van. I know the engine bay is dirty in the truck however after I detail it, it will look like new.

Well, not in my garage, but for the garage, I ordered a 4 post lift today. My first post here was a couple months ago regarding raising the tracks for the garage door, got some helpful advice, had to do a little re-engineering and rewiring as well to get more ceiling height.

It has been all ready to go for a few weeks. I like the garage layout as is and was hesitant to pull the trigger, but ultimately thought about getting another car, which I could fit in my shop as is, but then I wouldn't have room to work on it. Looking at it that way makes it a no brainer.

Shopping for cars now, just something interesting to tinker with, man things have gotten expensive, but that is a big discussion for another thread.

I haven't made it out to the shop in last two days. I watched through the window as the snow accumulated on the ground. I thought these newscasters are crazy this never going to stick. I stand corrected, we have a few inches on the ground. I think it will melt over the next few days. I was happy to get the big trailer, the bobcat and Project Big MF'er ( Massey Ferguson MF30E) tucked away in storage before the snow hit. No one wants salt or brine mix sitting on there equipment all winter.

This week's video is live. I repair a case drain hose for a hydrostatic motor on an 843 Bobcat. I needed to complete this repair before it could be moved to storage. Check it out if your are bored and or curious about what's under the skid plate of an 843 Bobcat. Its not the best filmography as I struggled to get good views while working in such confined spaces

Check it out:

Thanks

Thanks! I will check out Home Despot for the moulding as I have a similar need.

It's basically an edging for exposed ends of drywall material generally called corner bead or in this case L metal. they have different types for inside corners, outside corners and bullnose where you put drywall against say a brick wall in a corner. So instead of just taping these joints you would use this metal strip to finish it for a stronger corner/end.

Glued 300 10 degree collimating lenses to 300 WS2812 LEDs, for a IoT holiday decoration. Loaded a new config file. Helped me decide that I need better graphics code.

Garage is about emptied out (along with the house) most of our belongings are sitting in storage in another State. By New Year's I'll be turning 1/3 of a 3-car into a dedicated shop space. Finally.

Unpacked and tested a BF purchase from Tractor Supply. The jack needed a quick air purge to work correctly, but it seems to be a great tool for the $100 price. This will come in handy when I make the swap back to a ZT mower in the spring.

I gave an unused VHS away. The recipient was to have been here at 10:00h. He never showed up so I waited and went in the house at 14:00h. At 11:00h, I went for b'fast at Mc'Ds.
While I was waiting I checked for rodents, charged the air compressor up, aired up the suspension in my car and got out the backrest for my MOBB walker.
About15:00h I got a call cancelling until a later date. We have been friends for over 50 years, so I am used to his ways. I cannot get angry, but this will cost him a lunch.

Screwed in the edge trim on an upper shelf for my new clean bench. Added a couple doodads to decorate it!

Finally got around to repainting the trash rescue stool I repaired which now sorta matches another one I source from someone's trash pile years ago. Yes, I KNOW it would have been cheaper to have just bought a new one.

New one:

Old one it now kinda matches:

I've been working on remodeling our "TV room" into a proper "theater room". The main point of irritation in the room was this silly closet that was sacrificed at some point for the main ductwork trunk (160-year-old house that had forced-air heat added way later). So there's a useless closet door that you open and it's just full of ducts. I knocked the whole wall out, door and all, and I am just making a flat wall with a recessed equipment rack.

What did I do in the garage though? I have been going through my wood scraps. I think I have bought maybe 5 2x4s and 2 sheets of drywall for this project. The rest will be made entirely from reclaimed wood from the demolition and from my scrap pile. I am pretty happy to get some use out of my scrap, and see my pile diminish! Plus, with lumber prices as high as they are, I'm saving a little chunk-o-change too. I even had all the romex, CAT-5, mud rings, receptacles, and conduit laying around. Yay hoarding!

... a few days ago. Finished a mobile base for the drill press. 3x3 angle, with 2" sintered casters. Pretty much everything is on wheels now...

Moved the sleds into the garage... The first startup is always quite smokey.

Have a list of things that need to get done to both before I hit the trails.

I went out to the garage to fart to avoid complaints from my peanut gallery. One of the neighbours saw me and came over to practice his interoperation of social distancing. Two steps inside the man-door and he was gasping for air through his mask. He said he was going home to change cloths and shave because he thought this was the only way to get "it" out of his beard and clothes. This was worse than two cycle smoke. It is a terrible thing when at 75 this is the only fun I have. I swear, the flame in the furnace burned yellow for a few seconds and popped a few times. Lactose intolerance is a wonderful thing.
