I noticed the following tag line in one Tazfink's posts and it started a series of "one-ups-man-ships" with my buddies... so I thought I would see how it would play in this forum.

Cylinder Index
The Cylinder Index (or C.I.) is a measurement device in which the total number of internal combustion engine cylinders (working or non-working) owned by an individual (single-cylinder chainsaws, lawnmowers, 2-cycle, 4-cycle, multi-clinder diesels, trucks and farm tractors) are tallied. The Garage Logician who attains a C.I. in excess of his age is revered. - Joe Soucheray, Mayor of Garage Logic.

The only additional criteria is a valid CI is for current holdings only, you can't include long gone engines.

At 49 with a current CI of 55 I'm comfortable with my status.

That makes 35....

I'm in my early forties so I've got some catching up to do!

CI = 18.....

However....one must not confuse quantity with quality.....

My 84 CJ-7 has a fuel injected 5.7L TBI.....it can climb those rocks pretty quick....

I guess the guy with and electric car is really down there...

Well I’m going to have to live to a ripe old age to overcome my cylinder count of 158. And that's a small number compared to some I know..

All are in running condition other than two 1914 Cadillac 4 cylinder engines (one complete and wouldn’t take too much to get her running, and one mostly there parts engine), one incomplete 1953 Packard straight eight, and one 1933 Buick straight eight that will run; but not in a car, and two single cylinder hit-miss engines. All but 12 cylinders have spark plugs...

This brought another thought to mind. Just how many batteries associated with these toys? I have 38 and all hold a charge. And purchase six or more replacements each year....

Is this only for complete vehicles? I have 1/2 dozen rebuilt SBC's waiting for projects.

Running transportation vehicles in my collection add up to 78 cylinders.

Lawn equipment not included.
