ALso mounted a REAL nice powered extension cord reel that I got for a DEAL from a buddy.

Really needed it. Got sick or tripping over cords laying on the floor.

I need to order the pin also to keep everything closed

The local Highschool shop is in need of them back so I’ll be on it.

Anyone else feel charitable I’ll collect usable lathe or mill parts

Trying to keep the shop running with 8 lathes and 10 Bridgeport knee mills.

Nothing to donate other than a sincere Thank You for helping to keep their shop running. So many schools have gotten rid of this equipment and programs like this entirely.

The guy kid who took the new position is 23 yrs old and has good intentions. I want to be able to help as much as possible. It’s crazy how many really nice tools they have that don’t even fit these machines, live centers that would require me to run to other adapters on to work, or horizontal mill bits that there isn’t even a machine for, found a mag vise today for who knows what reason.

Clean up and replace what we can and trash what is trash

De-badged the Ram. Actually went pretty smooth. Just used braided fishing line and my fingers. Doubled sided tape came off fairly easy. It’s a very slow process, but worth it.

I still paid a decent amount for this one
even though it’s not in perfect shape. I
Still paid way less than some that big on
Ebay.

It’s a 15 Ton Dake with 5 coats of paint
the best I can tell, and all that paint had
contributed to it not working properly.

Sounds like a fun little project! I'm too cheap. Everyone I find reasonably priced sells before I have an opportunity to ask about. Your unit sounds like an easy fix! I'm jealous. I too would never fully restore one, but only fix it good enough to be fully functional. Nice! 😁

Drug the A frame hoist into the shop today, was kinda redneck involving the 3 point forklift on the tractor and a hand truck in the back, but it made it... Gotta get it lifted so I can get the casters cleaned up...

Also drug a wagon worth of stuff from the garage to the shop, gotta get things organized... the garage is a disaster...

I unloaded a heavy duty steel cabinet, from my truck. It has 10 drawers and each drawer has 5 divisions.
I want to put 6 casters under this cabinet.
My ALLAN Synchrograph has gone to a new home.
I will have two other metal cabinets for Craigslist in the near future. One has 27 drawers and the other is nearly 100 years old with 10 drawers and shop made dividers for fastener storage. My daughter has first refusal on this one.
I need to finish transferring stuff.

Rebuilding the S&S "E" Carb on the '74 Harley XLCH. This will be the first rebuild since I built the motor back in 2005.

I removed the bottom bowl a couple days ago and started cleaning some of the parts and main jet. Not all parts shown in pic. Still have to pull the top of the carb off the motor and clean it and the jets. Will also remove the intake manifold and replace the gaskets.

Waiting now on an S&S rebuild kit I ordered from J&P Cycle.

When I first started working in an HD shop in 1973, I knew nothing about the models. I always remembered the difference between XLH & XLCH like this:
XLH - Helectric
XLCH - Cick Harder

Yeah, I know... spelling - It's just a mnemonic. :bounce:

I finally figured it out! It still doesn't make much sense to me, but I now know that laser marking spray will not work on Aluminum (with my low power laser). I kept testing and re testing to no avail. It will work on stainless steel and it's pretty awesome!

I uploaded a video of the testing process. Check it out if you're bored and or interested in CNC lasers.

Check it out:

Thanks!

Took the '64 Corvette to dinner Sunday night and was rewarded with no headlights when I started back home - that was fun (NOT!!)!!
Yesterday I pulled the headlight switch and determined it was transferring power as intended, so next went to dimmer switch. It had exploded apart on its own. New part on the way, then reassemble.

Finished up another police equipment installation. I fabricated the sliding equipment shelf in this Charger to keep things secure and organized, while remaining accessible.

Nice rebuild.

You mentioned local High School, what High School are you rebuilding them for? Fremont or Weber?

Thank you, guys!

Cleaned the surface with clay bar. Wet sand with 1, 1.2, 1.5K paper, random orbit polish with 4 different compounds with various microfiber and foam pads, a round of paint glaze, then the final coat is from Meguiar's and their NXT Generation Polymer Sealant.

Not hard to do, just takes some time and some good music!

Thanks for commenting.
It's awesome how well that came out. Great job.

Pulled the front end of my 2000 F250 into the garage last night (after dark) so I could install the severe duty air intake set up.

Truck doesn't have that massive air sound anymore and the diesel romp is more clear - just the way I like it.

Ordered up some inner and outer cab corners and those should be in next week if all goes well.

I will also order up two types of sound damping mat that will go on once the cab corners are replaced.

It's nice having the diesel running well again and I'll be showing it some love until it's where I want it to be.

cheers

Jacked up my Ranger to high heat +2000F paint some exhaust pipes looking pretty rusty from the salty streets here during winter weather.
Jack slid off the frame and hit the bottom front quarter panel bracket holding the front fender, popping out the fender about 1/2" FRACK!!!!
I had to pull out the fender well and mud flap to find I could use a turnbuckle with a 1/4 bolt attached to the bracket on one end and a coathanger wire around the cab mount to the other side. I broke the turnbuckle and bent the bolt but I got the Fender bracket very close to normal.
I then used a bar and hammer, catching a bolt head attaching the fender and hammer it back to better than it was..."PHEW!"
While I had the fenderwell out I cleaned all the rust I could see, nicluding the exhaust manifold and sprayed the manifold with +2000F high heat paint, converted any rust using a rust converter, and painted the converted rust with high gloss black paint. Replace the fender well and finally got back to square one and painted the exhaust pipe I saw earlier I actually jacked up the truck to get to....painted all the way past the muffler and the fumes made me call it quits for the day.

Thanks Bonzo! Appreciate your comment.

Both wife and I followed that Targa on BAT. $104K.... Great for seller and the buyer will be happy with the car too.

Right quarter is next then the doors and at that point, will have the paint work pretty well completed. After paint, will get all the parts that were removed from the engine back on it and get this thing back on the road!

Rebuilt my Craftsman 1977 vintage 1.5 ton floor jack hydraulics with a "rebuild Kit" from Amazon.

Result was no leaks and it jacked up the Zero Turn for maintenance!!!!!

Stopped by a remodel job in my bock and passed a few pleasant minutes with the framer. I asked him about the pile of cut offs he was accumulating. He generously gave me 24 inches of 2X10 to build a load to test my generator.

I then went home and pulled many of the parts I need from my stock. I will still need to buy somethings but Home Depot is on schedule for tomorrow.

Measuring stove fuel tanks to see if an old one that came up may work for me (looking for an over-sized second tank...)

Working long hours really puts a crimp on shop time...

I have one from that era, bought it in high school, is yours made in Japan? I still use mine, no leaks doesn't creep, broke a tooth on the spur gear years ago.

Fixed a gas heater. The pilot was dirty. Stripped some motors and a transformer and magnetron out of old appliances. It looks like I may finally get my Lichtenberg machine.

4 day weekend as I got night shift next weekend.

Been home not even 3 hours and I already fixed my LED headlights on the DD car, swapped the winter rims out for summer,

And filled in the gaps on my roll cage, time for another nap (it’s 4am at time of posting) then smoothen out the welds and get the cage ready to be put back in.

I wish I had space for a winder. I hate having to roll the vacuum around. It would make things so much easier. Just no open wall space in the right spot.

I've had my eye on this from Rockler for a long time.

Me, too. Right now I have about 30' of hose for my wall mounted Craftsman vac. It just gets coiled around the built in hose rack, but a reel like the Rockler setup would be better.

Had a oil pan leak all last year. Bought a one piece gasket with metal. Also installed a adjustable PCV valve to help crankcase pressure. Weather is starting to get nice.

Ouch! Sorry to hear.

Any pics of the work you did to the exhaust?

Yesterday I bought a Husky mini pallet rack type shelf and 5 HDX bins to go on it, probably should have just gotten 8 of them... Got home, assembled that then finished cleaning up the casters on my A frame, now it rolls like new, just gotta grease up the trolley at this point...

Also got the down pedal working on the pet grooming table I have in the shop, I need to put some casters on it, then it would be really handy... I can see where a knee high to chest high electrically adjustable small table will be a great addition!

Between my slave driver Billy wanting all the posts finished for the deck (only 22 to go lol) so we can do the cable railings and keeping up with everything else, I haven't been posting up much.

In three days though, this spread has quickly become one of THE most popular Powder **** layouts in my shop's 15 year history with nearly a thousand reactions. It's for a retired Air Force vet who's enjoying the military discount for the second time. I figured you guys and gals might like it too.

I call this "Petty Blue on steroids." It loves lighting and the transitions are intense.
