What is it with people who assembly ratchet backwards.:headscrat

It's a great deal if you need a driver that big. These are still in production with a new one runs well over $100

I thought it was weird that the lever was on the side of the drive. Guess I will be taking that apart and changing.

I probably won't use it much. I have one 3/4" socket that i used on a Jeep pitman arm. Ever since then, I figured I may buy a drive and some more sockets if i can find them cheap. It definitely not an essential tool for the most things I do.

I intentionally did it on a 1/2" ratchet to get into a real tight area (really, really tight), I ground the socket down as well, could be for that reason or it could simply be a bone head reassembled it. Easily fixed.

I have a ratchet similar to that(same except assembled normally) I use all the time. It has done yeoman duty for over thirty years, great tool. I like the Proto 3/4 because it is a one piece like smaller ratchets.

Good find and great deal!

How much? Honestly I don't think it needs a rebuild except for the lever seems like it has a lot of play. Do you know how it attaches to the rocker (not sure the correct term but the piece on the far left of the image below)? It seems like it's somehow rivited on. Its like the lever can actually slide to the middle and lock the whole thing up.

How do you do that? Hammer and a punch? It just needs to be tightened.

That sounds about right, but put something underneath when you are using the hammer, like a small anvil or socket it to hold it so it doesnt push through.

It's a reversable ratchet :bounce:

Seriously, good buy. I picked up two 3/4 ratchets (Napa & S-K) for 25$ each off ebay

I also had bought a 1/2 drive proto that was backwards. I removed the plate and put the gear in the right way.

I got a 3/4" pebble at the flea market last year for $20. When I opened it up I noticed the cone springs were reversed compared to the smaller Plomb/Proto ratchets.

I just got a 3/4 drive Proto for cheep also. It needs rebuilt though. I called proto and the rebuild kits are on back order and they said it was gonna be several weeks till they were available. They kinda gave me the runaround before they finally said they would send me a kit when they came in.

Yes. That is the way they were when I took it apart, which is reversed from the smaller ratchets. I thought maybe the prior owner had but them in backwards, but when I reversed them as you see in the next pic they did not fit well.

Does anyone know how to put on an reverse lever on this kind of ratchet? A previous poster said it is peened on. What is the process of that? I ask because the one on my ratchet has a lot of play in it.
