I'm back from dealing with my folks in Florida......:(.

On a happier note, we have had progress while we were gone.

The ground has been leveled, compacted, trenches dug and rebar put in place.

Inspection is planned for this Monday with the footers getting poured either Tuesday or Wednesday. After that we are having the pest folks come out and treat the whole area for termites. After that, forms go in for the pad and the stem walls.

I've been quietly following along watching things come together with the new shop and am quite excited to see the concrete footings done !!! I eagerly await the projects you'll pump out of that new space !!

Also, congrats on the 1,000 post milestone !!

Hi Mike, holy ****, 1,000 posts......how'd that happen? Wow, whodathunk, seriously!

Thanks for stopping by. I cannot wait to get my stuff moved in there and set up. The house, the garage and the shop will be going through all sorts of reorganizations. Nest week the forms get installed for the pad and the stem walls. I also have to give him the location of the extra thick pads for the lift.

Is it done yet.
Good work mate

Steve

Oh Steve, I soooooo wish this was done!

But from talking to some other contractors that we will need to hire for the roof, stucco, etc (They're booked way out) plus what we will have to do, we'll be lucky to have this shop finished by the end of the year. :(

Every trade I know , including myself is rammed solid with work.
A timber importer I use had his best year ever last year, mostly selling timber decking to guys on furlough. :lol_hitti So much so he had to give his staff an extra weeks holiday to make up for it.
I think I’m too far away to help sadly
I’ve built a few garages/workshops and always enjoyed it. Have fun fella

Yep, seems like all the trades are slammed out here. Oh well, progress no matter how small is still progress.

I keep checking in.

Looking at the photos from some angles, it certainly looks even bigger than anticipated.

Hi Rian, this place will be a little smaller than my last shop but I'm sure it will be better. I do hope your back is better soon. Having had issues with mine in the past, I know it is no fun. Take care!

Little by little...........

We now have stem walls. I swear, this whole subdivision could be swept away and that shop will be the only thing left standing. Crazy county regs.51140305501_81c7908bd1_b.jpg

Hi Dan, I haven’t stopped by in a while and just to see you’re building again!:lol_hitti

I too like the concrete in the AM, but footers are OK later n the day.

The openings in the stem wall, are those for vents or flood holes?

Look forward to seeing you progress.

Raising the building! We are above grade!

Well, at least the stem wall is. So freakin' silly. Thanks for stopping by Marc!

Looking good Dan.

Thanks Mac, we're getting there. Your place is looking great.

Hell ya Dan, you're above ground level. It's all down hill from here.

Mike, if they don't finish this soon, I may turn this pile of concrete into a water feature.

Craig, the openings are for flood vents. In the event that we should get a 6" sheet flow of water through the property, the flow can go right through the shop. Never mind that we have a six foot wall around the backyard. Freakin' nitwit......

And lumber has started to arrive.

More lumber is supposed to arrive this Friday for the build to start this coming Monday.

Also starting this Friday, our solar system install is supposed to begin on the house. It's going to get awfully busy here at Odd Acres.

Fixed it for you Outlaw. :spit:

Dan,
Congrats on getting to this point, I left for an outage 7 weeks ago now and really hoped for your sake you'd be installing stuco by now. But as they say progress is progress.

Keep moving forward,
JB

Now it will go quick Dan. Concrete looks great.
I hope so Mike! My lovely wife has stepped in and has been really busy getting other sub-contractors lined up for later this month. Work has been stupid busy for me and I just don't have the bandwidth to make all of those calls. But things are starting to fall into place.

Hi Marc, yeah, I know, right? Wait until all the 2x6's arrive. Major ouch!

Alright, alright, alright!!!

Bret

Thanks Bret, doing a small happy dance over here.

Fixed it for you Outlaw. :spit:

Thanks JB! I don't know how you do it but keep doing it; just don't burn yourself out.

Nice progress Dan. You need a full time armed guard posted at that lumber pile.

Hi Mac, I have heard more than a few stories about lumber theft. I'm hoping that because we're kinda out in the hinterlands, in a gated community and the lumber cannot be seen from the street, that we might be OK. Although if I do see a drone, its coming down. :D

I take brakes and have a drink. I have plenty to update on when I can get to it. One of which you will probably be very interested in. :D :3gears:

Aw c'mon JB, don't leave me hangin'!

Yesterday the rest of the lumber showed up and some sawdust was made.

The boys are going to be back at it bright and early on Monday.

The folks installing our solar system started the roof work and installed the racking. They too will be back bright and early on Monday to continue their work.

And this morning I went about installing three ceiling fans out on the patio; one 52" and two 62" fans.
