I've got a home owner's model that I've been using that's fully assembled and in service, but it's the heavy duty models that I like the best.
I think it might be able to cut up to 1-1/2", but I'm not sure. I've always cut my Bermuda anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2".
These mowers are originally California Trimmers made right here in Fresno since 1935, but about two years ago, the company was purchased by Eastman Mowers over in Maine.

How about this....from the early seventies. It actually cuts grass.
I used to have a twin cylinder Maytag mower.....I believe it was built by a man named Johnson.
Dave
Lmao.......uh.......I got a 1972 Murray 12hp, 38 in cut riding mower..... ok dammit.......go ahead and laugh.....
An even older Craftsman 22" self Propelled Eager-1 Mower.
I'll keep it running one way or another until the frame rots away!
It is going on 21 years old now...and cuts like a charm.
jkwhere do i find one of those XD
i just picked up this beauty last night. my great aunt took it to a mechanic this year and he can't seem to fix it. well i took the carb apart and cleaned the heck out of it. no luck. i would start it up, it would run for a good 5 min. then die. if i tried starting it up again right away, it wouldn't start. but if i let it sit for at least 20 min. and try to start it up, it would run again! but only for 5 min. so i figured since the intake is clean what about the exhaust..? well since she's a good ole 2 stroke, she burns lots of oil and whatnot. So, the muffler was PLUMP full of carbon deposits. I couldn't get it all quite out so i had to drill some holes to get it all out because the deposits would get stuck trying to make their way out. Got er all cleaned up and now she runs like a charm. The problem is, it's a 1984 and my great aunt paid $500 for it back then. She just went and bought a $500 toro push mower. And now i got it running so i don't know what to tell her. It has electric start, self propelled, it's a bagger, blower, mulcher. It's got all the goodies and it's in mint condition. she gave it to me for free since she doesn't know anything about motors and the mechanic couldn't fix it.

I gave my vintage lawn mowers to the garbage collector. I don't save junk.
