No problems. It's too small for my yard, but I'm never getting rid of it.

I LOVE IT! My only complaint is about three years ago the spring or whatever apperatus that was used to tension the Hyd pump belt broke off and Ive rigged bailing wire and a small turn buckle to a bolt and the frame to keep it tight which evry once and a while breaks... but thats my own fault for being lazy & not lookin the part up in the manual

I am with the Deere men. We have a large property and are so dependent on our 445 22 HP EFI with the 54" mower. We hook up the 47" snowblower in the winter and it goes through the wet, heavy snow like butter on the long driveway. We've had it for 10 years and it hasn't missed a beat. I think it would be an excellent buy for someone in the market for a used workhorse tractor.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I've got a home owner's model that I've been using that's fully assembled and in service, but it's the heavy duty models that I like the best.

I think it might be able to cut up to 1-1/2", but I'm not sure. I've always cut my Bermuda anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2".

These mowers are originally California Trimmers made right here in Fresno since 1935, but about two years ago, the company was purchased by Eastman Mowers over in Maine.

I thought I had seen your handle/avatar before I came to GarageJournal, you're on Lawnsite, I remember reading your comments when I was thinking about getting a reel mower and doing some research.

How about this....from the early seventies. It actually cuts grass.

I used to have a twin cylinder Maytag mower.....I believe it was built by a man named Johnson.

15 year old hand me down (from FIL) Snapper self prop, oil`s been changed 2x, original spark plug and air filter. When it starts misfiring the plug gets re-gapped and the paper air filter gets hosed off .I take my dislike for yard work out vicariously on the mower, lol, that and I`m so damn impressed with the machine I want to see how far it will go.

i had one of those. if you ever neglect it and it doesn't want to start any more it is impossible to get it to start again because of the resistance. very ****** mower if you ask me. it cut ok but not the best

I spent about 5 hours of my weekend brush clearing some acres with my sweet rig...

Kubota B2620 4wd cut.

As you can see it does a lot more than just cut grass. Great tool!

A 2001 26" Husqvarna rear drive self propelled with a 6.5 HP Honda OHC. Changed the oil once after the first year, still used to cut ours and all of the streets lawn once a week, doesnt miss a beat, even after I ran over a piece of re-bar sticking out of the ground.

i just picked up this beauty last night. my great aunt took it to a mechanic this year and he can't seem to fix it. well i took the carb apart and cleaned the heck out of it. no luck. i would start it up, it would run for a good 5 min. then die. if i tried starting it up again right away, it wouldn't start. but if i let it sit for at least 20 min. and try to start it up, it would run again! but only for 5 min. so i figured since the intake is clean what about the exhaust..? well since she's a good ole 2 stroke, she burns lots of oil and whatnot. So, the muffler was PLUMP full of carbon deposits. I couldn't get it all quite out so i had to drill some holes to get it all out because the deposits would get stuck trying to make their way out. Got er all cleaned up and now she runs like a charm. The problem is, it's a 1984 and my great aunt paid $500 for it back then. She just went and bought a $500 toro push mower. And now i got it running so i don't know what to tell her. It has electric start, self propelled, it's a bagger, blower, mulcher. It's got all the goodies and it's in mint condition. she gave it to me for free since she doesn't know anything about motors and the mechanic couldn't fix it.

Troy built 42in. with the Kohler courage motor. Good enough to tow some cars around and pull small trees out of the yard.

I love lawn boy's you can not kill them. we always had a stoke of them at the shop from people drooping them for dumb things just like that, Or they had water in the gas or a dirty carb. People also though gas never went bad :headscrat

These bring back some memory's Just like home I kid you not. :shocking:

I ride on a 13 year old John Deere GT275 but my trimmer is a 1950's something Yazoo push-24" with the 20" bike tires. It has a 5 hp Cast iron Clinton engine( second engine was bought about 1972, still getting it) I bought it used $40 and wouldn't run; it had kerosene in the tank. I have a new B&S 6 hp in the box waiting for the next upgrade. I just love this old mower as I did my 3 Cushman Eagles of days past.

As a kid in the 50's, I remember an old Snapper commerical mower that was about 6-10 hp that had a power roller drive on the rear and skid bars for front support. It had a 24-30 " cut with a molded steel body like a turtle shell. On the nose like a hood orniment was stuck a snapping turtle head. ANYBODY IN THE GJ REMEMBER THESE OLD MACHINES, BESIDES MYSELF OR AM I JUST DREAMING?

I have a Massey Ferguson 2823 garden tractor with a Kohler Command 23hp and 54" deck and a Kubota push mower. Both are great. The Kubota has an aluminum deck, so there's no rust to worry about, and the MF is the same as a Simplicity Prestige--that deck lays down some NICE stripes.

Wow, that brings back memories! I used to ride one of those, I would lean back on the handle with my feet on either side of the engine and pull on the drive handle and ride it down the sidewalk. I was too lazy to walk to my friends house a few blocks away, so I would ride that. I actually was good enough that I could lean back and to the side and get it to skip to the left or right enough to make turns. When my father found out I was doing that he tore me a new one.

For my property maintenance I use a '55 Ferguson TO35 with a 5' Woods RM360 mower.

Great tractor that I would have never imagined owning. I was 5 or 6 when I first started riding on it with my grandma discing the grape fields. Then when they moved off the farm, they sold it to my parents, when my grandma passed she left some money for my parents and they upgraded to a 4x4 tractor/loader for their wet areas and horse maintenance. Then they "sold" me the old Fergy. It's better than most tractors that size/age having live PTO, High/low trans, and 35HP.
