Got the T-bird on ramps in the rear looking for the bad sounding "clunk" I've been hearing - I expected it to be U joints or CV's, but I got lucky - Sway bar bushings! I'm happy! Its an easy and cheap fix! <$25 delivered I should see them next week!

Washed tar off me from waterproofing and installing drain tile on the kitchen extension foundation.

Grabbed several beers from the beer fridge.

Stashed the new B&S 27HP engine for repowering the lawn tractor.

Cleaned the grates and drip trays for the smoker from last weekend that have soaked all week.

Found a little water on the floor... Water heater has a slow leak. Luckily the last time I replaced the water heater I put it in a pan but never plumbed the drain. The leak is slow enough that I was able to zip tie a funnel to the drain and into a bucket.
Called a plumber and set up an appointment to have it replaced.
I was going to do it myself like I've done before but it was only a few $100 more to have someone else do it. My knee and back are already thanking me.
Spent the rest of the day cleaning up around the water heater.

A while back I had picked up some Mayhew Ladyfoot pry bars. Today I finally built something to hold them. I didn’t have anyplace low where I could just use holes in a piece of steel, and I didn’t want to have to lift them over my head to get them, so this is what I came up with. Some scrap oak and some 1/8” aluminum bar.

Camshaft replacement on a Kawasaki FD590V vertical shaft, liquid cooled engine. It belongs to a John Deere F725 front deck mower. It's a great machine, but the camshaft gear is plastic that is bonded to the metal shaft. The replacement cam is all metal. I'm wrapping it up and expect to have the mower back up and running tomorrow at the latest.

I took off dead weight on my Honda Grom. The weight reduction was only 1.05 pounds, but everything counts on a 220 pound, 10 horsepower motorcycle.

Pulled the PS rear wheel off my F150 to figure out what was squealing. Pulled the caliper, looked OK. Tried to pull the rotor...stuck. Banged it off, saw a ****-ton of rust on the parking brake actuator, cursed. Pulled it apart, unsiezed the actuator, knocked some rust off the contact points, applied brake grease, started to put things back together.

Then I got to the *******-like shoe retaining clips. Cursed a bit, got it back together, sighed. Figured I'd check the other side, found more rusted up parts. Cursed again, pulled it apart, unsiezed the actuator. Cursed a bunch more at the retaining clips, torqued the wheels back on road tested it, then cracked open a beer.

Ford came up with a REALLY lousy design for this one.

Changed out an oxygen sensor on the 2015 Expedition. Hardest part is getting the old one broken loose. I soaked it in Kroil, then tried using a crowfoot, but could not get a good position to get the breaker bar on it. Tried using a 1/2" universal joint with 6" extension, but no go. Tried using a 7/8" open end, but not enough room to move it. Then blasted it with Kroil again and made a run to AutoZone for a oxygen sensor wrench. Tried putting pressure on it back and forth with a short length of pipe for a cheater bar. On about the 10th or so try, I heard a pop and thought the wrench broke. It was the sensor breaking loose. Rest of the job was a piece of cake.

Put stuff away, but I also got not one, but two folding army shovels folding again as the nuts were frozen (galvanic corrosion...) Ad Day with Kroil on both then some rapping all around with a wood mallet, and then vise grips while holding the shovel in the vise, then lurching back and forth got them started, and then free!

I did the '45 Ames I got yesterday first, then the '66 Ames pick/shovel I'd not had any luck with before second.

I got a set like that from a friend that was parting out his 69 (he should have sold the car complete as it had a very, very good VIN but was minus the original 428 & 4 sp when he bought it). I put them in my 68 Scout. His 302 went in my 67 coupe.

My Brother bought a new garage door because the bottom panel of his old door was rotted out. I took the top panel of his door which was in good shape and used it as my bottom panel because my bottom panel was also rotted out. My garage door and his happen to be eight feet wide. I had to shave off about an inch off the bottom on his panel to make it fit. Now to paint it.

Mounted and installed the new Avon 5.00-16 tire on the front of the 74 FLH. Also painted the raised lettering with a white paint pen. Getting closer to its maiden ride.

Replaced a license plate screw cover that popped off when I was washing the Scoobie yesterday. The plastic retainer had gotten brittle. Took a new retainer out of stock and was back to normal in less than five minutes.

Had an eventful weekend, finished up the racecar, the wife knocked the 8 months worth of dust off of it, and we brought it to a friend's chassis dyno. A good full day of tuning and fixing little gremlins it wound up making almost 2100hp on a pretty mild tune up. Couldn't be happier!

I got out last night to continue working on 'the big mean green parts machine'. It was a hot one. I had to jamb a shop towel in my hat to catch the sweat. It took a couple tools, but I made some good progress.

It only trips up small children and old people. Interestingly enough, I never trip. It's designed so that if you start up or down on your left foot, the transition is smooth.
