Put new brake pads on the back of the minivan - rotors were looking good - so just a pad slap. I understand that not putting new rotors on will cause distress amongst many here - but the rotors were $75 bucks a piece and the old ones had no ridges after 90K miles so that's what I did. Rotors aren't always as cheap as some of you imply.
Then I changed the gear oil in the front diff on my Explorer. It doesn't have a drain plug so it had to be sucked out.
Get the dirty and smelly stuff out of the way in one day.

Replaced this tensioner on my coworkers brothers Mazda 3. Never dealt with one like this you need a stubby torx bit that apparently is included in most serpentine belt tool kits but it wasn’t in the one I had. Luckily one of the Kia guys had one he let us use. We used my 15mm and a long 1/4 ratchet to loosen the bolt holding the tensioner then snap…. my ratchet went to ratchet heaven lol. Luckily it will be fixed Thursday. And he found my 1/4 15mm which fell in the engine somewhere when the ratchet snapped. So both things are still around luckily. And he now has the record of breaking at least one of everybody’s tools in the shop lol. Me and him had a laugh about it I was a little disappointed because the ratchet is so new but I’m not going to show my anger towards a coworker especially my good coworker. 615BC0B4-DED3-4D04-971E-EB2B71381711.jpeg
Then I also done some tires and we got a new tech been doing it 30 years and has plenty of tools so we all helped him get setup and showed him around and had a good laugh about things we talk about and stuff it was great. Glad to see a well seasoned member come to join us. We don’t have many.

Replacing exhaust manifold gaskets. 3 bolts were a bit stubborn.
Removing front clip is a 20 minute job for easy access to engine

So, a few weeks ago, the wife did this.

New door will be in around....... Christmas!

So to be able to open the door, I shoved it back into roughly it's original shape, hammered the rollers and track into the general vicinity from which they came and added some 2x2x.125 angle iron since the metal door skin rips when you bend it.

Need to hit the heads of the bolts with some flat white. Satin is a bit too white.
Didn't hook the opener up as the door is 40# heavier now and the track and rollers aren't exactly straight, but at least I can open it again.

Yesterday the parts came for my Eley hose reel. It needed a new leader hose and swivel. While it was apart I removed all of the powder coating that was flaking off in sheets. Repainted it and reassembled everything.

I was going to replace the front lower ball joints on my 1989 S10 Blazer 4wd but the new parts from NAPA wouldn't fit. The new joints have a higher profile dome which fouls the dome space on the suspension arm. I guess people cut the dome off the suspension arm. I found these Delco ball joints that look like they should fit

Working on the bench today, I am epoxying a few broken decorative stepping stones at are not really stepping stones....
0918211222_HDR.jpg

I replaced them with non broken ones as you can see in my "What I did in my yard today post".
Considering these cost me about $7 each, what's a $5 bottle of epoxy to add to the cost... *sigh*

Hope I can pry them off the bench!!!!!

I will place them in my decorative gravel around the property and "try" not to step on them.....

Sprayed some paint. Practicing with the new spray gun. 3 coats of black. 3 coats of urethane clear.

We have a lot planned for tomorrow, but I'm hoping to get 3 coats of base and 3 coats of intercoat clear on the outside tomorrow.

Then I'll wet sand the intercoat clear and get ready for spraying the candy and final clear next weekend. I wish I had time this week to spray the candy, but I just don't see where I have the time.

You'll see a grain in the black paint. That's from me barely sanding the inside of the fender (it's the inside :) )

Rolly Chair wheel upgrade. Bearing about to fall out of the swivels on old wheels.
Caster set of 4 $6 on amazon :)
Old wheels were M8 thread and hard to find, and cost more than $6. New wheels 3/8-16 so I welded in some coupling nuts to adapt. Did a brake delete on new wheels. Pretty nice wheels, 2x 608Z bearings in each wheel.
Don't judge my welding SkilllllZZZ.

And I rolled this into the shop today. Buddy wants me to get it running.
VIN dates it as 72, Titled as 73 (guess that's when it was officially sold and titled). Last PA inspection sticker is 1974. Registration sticker on plate also 1974. Yeah... Only on the road for ONE year and that mileage is Actual. I wanna ride it when running but that would prolly take $100 bill off the value for every mile I go.

Taking a closer look now that it's dried... Looks like I got some popping in the clear. I thought I waited long enough between coats. Guess not. Little sanding would clean it up, but I'm not going through the effort for the inside of the fender :)

FIL and I got the hood hinges for the ‘66 Charger loosened up and got the replacement hood installed. Now to find a good painter. I have the paint code used in the restoration so hopefully won’t be a big deal. 9595DED6-ACD1-47BB-9454-CC15F4EEB357.jpegWhen I bought the car, someone had put a wart of a hood scoop on it and some fugly flat black paint. Worse yet, they cut a hole in the hood. I was able to source a replacement and get it media blasted. Here’s the Charger as purchased.

Been searching for literately months for a box of tongue depressors that I put away. I can't remember where I put them. I finally found them. I took a picture of them in the spot the box is. Now I just have to find my phone when I can't remember where I put the tongue depressors.

I removed one of the rear brake cylinders on my 1989 Blazer this morning. They use a spring clip to hold them in place. I am glad that I bought the removal tool. You can wrestle with a pair of screwdrivers while you try to pull the cylinder off. I didn't want to do that again !

Along with the Charger hood story in post 42,901, FIL also "learned" me something that I didn't know about. A mixture of 50/50 ATF and Acetone works really well as a penetrating lubricant. I had tightened up the rivets in the Charger hood hinges to the point the would move and this stuff really did the job loosening them up to be operable again.

It was last night but I did a bit of planing on the absolutely terrible glue up I did. But it's just a small workbench I tossed together mostly from stuff laying around the garage to stick out in the barn.

Oil change on Wife's still-pretty-new WRX. This oil change concludes the break-in series (500, 1500, 3000 miles). Subsequent changes will be at 3000 mile intervals.

Today just looked for my new tools that I seem to have misplaced lol. Bought a long 1/4 extension and a 28mm socket at Lowe’s yesterday then brought the bag in and set it down and now I can’t find it anywhere. I guess it’ll turn up. Hopefully I won’t need the extension or socket anytime until I find it. I’m sure it will turn up. I’m thinking one of us moved it and just don’t remember. Still didn’t get to rotate the tires on anything but oh well I enjoyed our Sunday trip to Rural King instead. Yesterday just checked things out on my dads truck.

Went through my collection of license plates, found two sets of 69 Ohio 's- gave them to the new neighbor across the road for his 69 Corvette he just bought.
He'll have to decide which set is the nicest and go to the BMV to get them registered to his car.

Also had a set of old Corvette valve covers that I've had for years and gave those to him as well.
