Fyi: empty your dump trucks and trailers when possible . . .

Here is how you trash a brand new dump trailer over time . Almost all the powder coated paint was still there . But the metal was gone .

Prob going to ditch the tump part and reuse the frame for other use .

Rolled out the the taco box from its space against the wall where it has sat for almost 5 years. These things have drawers on 3 sides and I only really had access to the main drawers. Will try using it as a rolling work table/island.

What type of panel is covering the roof??
Corrugated galvalume, 24 gauge. 34" wide panels could be ordered any length, I think I did 3 - 15' lengths to do my 40' ceiling with some overlap. Installed in one weekend my me and my wife, a little tricky but way more DIY-friendly than drywall. Probably cost-neutral since I'd have to hire out the drywall.

Great looking trailer!
Thanks . She worked great all season no real problems . Did just what we wanted her to do from the way we built it . Only major change if i find a deal on one is drop from a 550gal tank to a 350gal tank . Less weight to drag around and now building a bulk holder tanker trailer so dont need as much main tank .

Pulld a bunch of bike parts boxes from the garage attic and sorted thru them. Tinkered with my new touring bike I got last night, organized bike parts and put all of my sewing stuff into a new tool box, one I was going to sell.

A woodpecker would not waste his/her time poking at a strip of wood if there was not food there. They can't live on wood chips, they don't peck for the sake of peckering.

You got bugs.

When we bought our brown cedar sided house there was evidence of wood pecker damage. I did my research, and found that there are three reasons they peck. 1) Food 2) Nesting 3) Drumming (they are very territorial birds, and Drumming let's all the other peckers know that the head pecker is back in town).

We have a lot of pileated wood peckers locally (the real big bastards) and I have talked to guys who use their phones with a woodpecker call on it, and will get them to come in within minutes. Kinda neat!

I checked the drumming thing out the other day. 100% CORRECT. I did not know that, nor did a trusted birder I know.

I stand corrected ready to play bass guitar to anybody's lead drummer woodpecker... wondering can they play WipeOut !!!

Had a used four post lift assembled in the garage yesterday. The approach angles don't really work out how I thought they would so I will likely end up moving it against the garage door wall. Wishing I'd waited for a regular size one to come up on the used market... Not 100% sure if I'll keep it or not long term. Gotta pick up casters and drip trays for it next week. At least it's 110v don't have to worry about wiring it in when it moves :)
Gonna need a lot of cleaning. The shop I got it from took maintenance for granted.

Reassessed how I will attach my 4 foot LED lights from the garage ceiling- instead of mounting them directly to the ceiling, I’m considering mounting a series of hooks from which I can hang any light, to be able to move them around as needed.

Took a flap disk to a badly rusted patio table and brushed Rustoleum on the remaining metal rim. After the primer fully dries, I intend to cover the rotten rim of the table with metal foil tape and give it a generous coating of black enamel.
We should be able to get another several years of service from the table.

Yesturday , as I mentioned in the AAA thread the ignition switch in my 95 ram failed at lowes. tow driver stopped at oriellys so I could grab the parts ( changed both switch and lock cylinder ) easy fix once home where I had access to the security torx bits needed to remove said switch. have since added a set of security torx to the truck tool kit.

Fixed the 20yr old jump pack, Again...
Already replaced the power supply with an AC 18V wallwart from the hoard several years ago. This time its the SLA battery. Still, much cheaper to buy a batt than a new pack.

New rear struts on the Explorer. Did the fronts last weekend so new struts all the way around now. Drives pretty firm now - was getting pretty sloppy feeling lately. Wondering how things will settle in from here - first time using quick struts and I hear that they will settle in some.

Undercoated my truck, used 7 Gallons last winter for its first coat and only needed 5 gallons this time for the yearly reapplication. Forgot to get a few gallons of bar oil to fill the doors with so will get some Monday and get them done then.

Patched dads tire today. He told me he had to put air in it a few weeks ago. But I had forgotten about that so today came out after we got home from breakfast to find the tire completely flat. Took it off seen this and found the problem. I know people say don’t plug tires but I’ve never had or seen one fail and plus a business wouldn’t patch it anyway because it’s on the inner part of the treads on the tire closest to the car so they would say you need a new tire. I could take it to work and patch it but the luck I’ve had with plugs this will do for now. This is the first time I’ve seen something without a point go in a tire though. Oh yeah and I had to kick and pry the tire off so I used plenty of anti seize.

How many of you have a wife who works in the garage with you?
While the wife was finishing up a full detail on this 2012 Prius....look pretty good, right?
(She is a Croftgate dealer and a certified ceramic coat technician.
She runs the business out of our garage so I get all the free perks, (...and a good tax write off!))
1030211332.jpg

She was ceramic coating the lens she just cleaned and buffed.....
1030211332_HDR.jpg

All this while I worked on my winter garage queen ( I do drive it till the street salt falls)......
1030211333.jpg

You got to love having dumpster dive carpet and reminiscents on the floor! (gets dirty, just toss!)
New fuel filter check and replace....
1030211333a.jpg

To my surprise, it was changed in 4-7-2018 at 80K by my mech friend.
I had him date and mileage mark the filter for today's reference.
They say 2 years or 30K but its been 3 years and 20K.
I am 500 miles to 100,000 on the odometer. :yikes:
The undercarriage still looks new, not bad eh?!?! 🤩
So I changed the filter anyway.
Hope my 2008 Ranger XLT's fuel filter is this easy!
I didn't have a fuel rail disconnect tool so it was "AWESOME" my car came with the quick disconnect pinch fitting.
It is soooooo simple to push together the two "green square buttons" on the fitting and it disconnects!!!!!
1030211337.jpg

So I put the new filter on, wrote the date and miles on the filter and replaced the cover AND the under-body lights which added an extra step.
1030211415.jpg

While I had the battery disconnected, I cleaned the terminals, and found a barely visible tag I made to date the battery....
1030211333b.jpg

I made a new tag that was more legible and added the connections to the battery using die electric grease and felt anti-corrosion pad.
1030211333c.jpg

Replaced the gas pump relay and the car started right up without any leaks at the filter.
Tomorrow is the 2008 Rangers fuel filter...IF I don't need the special disconnect tool!!!
According to some on line video I have saw, my Ranger also has the easy peasy fuel filter disconnects! Cool....

Had sports ball stuff most of the day, but I did get a few things done.

I decided to finally get around to painting the welding cart since it was still out from the last project.

Then I started cleaning up the shop and realized that I need more shelf space. I talked the wife in to letting me pick up one of the big 90" long 5 shelf units from home depot. Spent most of the late afternoon cleaning off 3 smaller shelves of all their stuff and putting the big new one up.

Tomorrow I'll finish painting the welding cart, reload the new shelf and then move one of the old shelves into its new spot.

I'll have to move the 3d printer to a new home to make this work.

I'll grab pics tomorrow when this is done.

I did a welding cart revamp myself the other day. Re-configured it to fit the plasma cutter too. Made the hooks on the side too. It was a filthy mess and cleaned it up a bit. Welded the hub sleeves into the rear wheels and cleaned and lubed the front swivel casters. What should have been an hour turned into most of the day project.

Plasma cutter is a really tight fit so it won't get pulled off the shelf. Has room to breath and the regulator and air line easily accessible. Got some organizers for the plasma and mig consumables.
