Broke a tool...sorta.

I've had a corded Dremel 3000 for yeeeaaarrrs. 10 speeds, solid performer. Used it often. Today it decided that speed setting 2 is just as good as 10. Then 3 - 9 decided to go along with it a short time later. Still works, just gets a tad toasty running full tilt unlike before

Guess it's about time to go cordless before my Dremel gives up the ghost.

I have a rebranded craftsman one that I think is giving up the ghost as well.
A couple weeks ago I was using it to cut some tile (builder tiled over the shower valve). As it was cutting.. I added a little pressure and the disc stopped... pull back and it spun back up.. but cant push to hard on it or it stops...
I think this thing is a good 20yrs old.. so I guess it has served me well.... lol

Pulled the fuel filter on my 2008 Ford Ranger XLT that we call "Ruby", I had replaced back in 2015, it was over due. Once the old filter was removed, I saw some surface rust on the inner frame rail and the clip for the filter, go figure. So I de-scaled the rust, sprayed with rust converter and watched it dry then sprayed flat black over it all. marked the new filter with the date and mileage and reinstalled the new filter and hoses. Ran a test to verify no leaks and was good to go!

I has some time to kill so I pulled Ruby outside on the apron.
I detailed the truck using "Croftgate's Last Detail" to get rid of the dust and water spots from being outside last month. Now that I moved over the cars to the 3rd and second bay, room for the truck in the heated garage just makes sense.

Having a spot in the garage for the truck allows me to keep her pretty clean during the winter.

I managed to damage the tip of a straight pick ... which strictly is doing something albeit not achieving anything. Was trying to remove a pin and opted (foolishly) to use pick with a soft face hammer. Premium pick too, *******!

The dashboard on my 2011 Impala kept showing the triple warning, Service Stabilink, Brake Assist, and Traction control. Then the chine inside the car sounds like a Pinball Machine. I clipped the wire back from the Hub Assembly about a foot and a half, and spliced in another wire from a Junk Yard vehicle. I untwisted the old wire and found where the break was (red arrow)

Got the 6.0 pulled from the F250. Made up a quick bracket system to support the transmission so I could pull the frame out of the shop.

New thermostat + housing for the 2013 Chrysler minivan. Easy swap - just messy considering that the thermostat is low on the engine. I find it amusing that if the stat is stuck open that it would throw a powertrain code because the engine isn't coming up to temperature as fast as it should. I understand that it's emissions related but throwing a code for that is a new one for me.
Wait until you have to replaced an electrical thermostat, things are changing fast!

Exercised my generator set, did some clean up in the shop, went to the Barber Shop for my Hair Cut and Beard Trimming, bought the only two pounds of Organic Coffee from Columbia on the store shelf.

Not a damn thing. Foot surgery last Tuesday to repair a tear in peroneal tendon, so probably laid up for a couple of weeks!

Installed a temperature controlled fan for the stereo equipment in the shop before I put the doors on. Got this off of Amazon and must say I’m impressed with the quality!

I run the same one in two separate networking racks. They work really well. The screen does not like cold weather, though. The LCD froze on mine and stopped working. The controller still works, though.

I did more welding on the aquarium stand.

Oil change on the van.
Screwed that up though by telling the wife that it was nice to just have to do an oil change this weekend - after the past few weekends it was nice to have a simple brainless job on a vehicle.
That bit my *** quickly.
It's a 2013 Chrysler with the 3.6L. I noticed a spring attached to the old filter. Investigation revealed that my oil pressure relief valve was missing. Apparently it was missing on the last oil change and I didn't notice so the spring attached itself to the filter.
After some research I learned it's a common problem with 2011 to 2013 models. Further research revealed that I needed a new oil filter housing to the tune of about $300 and the upper and lower intake had to be removed to replace it. Further further research revealed that the valve is now available separately and the parts store close to me had one for $28. It's a Dorman but hey - any port in a storm and it certainly made my day much easier.
Now I'm trying to figure out what I did to the engine 5000 miles ago when I put a new filter in with just the spring left. Was it bypassing the filter all this time or was it unable to bypass if needed. Not sure on that one.
New valve on left - what's left of the old valve on the right.

Not my garage buy mo's house garage - replaced 4 florescent tubes in her kitchen. Sorted out why her florescent shop lights in the Garage didn't work - (NOT a bad switch as expected, but the stupid push in connections on the switch had "lost contact"... got her cars tires aired up to spec.

Processed more lumber for stair treads. Emptied 50 gallons of wood chips from the DC. Made and installed a PVC corner guard, so the shopvac hose doesn't rip at the drywall. Made up some tread blanks. Changed the NXHD to Turkey Day colors.

Finally got around to hanging various tools, and put the Bowflex back together. Not as much as I'd like, but it's baby steps in the right direction.PXL_20211113_191548351.jpg
