When my ex wife's eyes started looking like that it was time to find somewhere else to be.
Uncle Willie, good to know because I thought it was Liane's detached retina and cataract surgeries. I've moved into the guest bedroom so I don't accidentally roll over and get poked by her machete.
Well, you did warn us……but damn! I hope all goes well Bob!
Mr.zippy, most of the cutting and stitching was inside the eye this time. My first eye surteries involved cutting and stitching the muscles on the outside and that was really ugly.
Nice Terminator eye. Judy had a better one that lasted several weeks after a series of intraocular injections. Hopefully your new lens and reduced pupil work out.
Kay, not sure how long this is going to take to clear up but so far I can't detect any progress. The surgeon wants to see me next Friday so maybe he can give me a time frame. After both of my cataract surgeries it was two days from the surgery to clear vision.
Apparently iris reconstruction is the tricky bit: "Iris reconstructive surgery is among the most difficult operations performed by the anterior segment surgeon, especially in cases after ocular trauma."
Hey, Bob! here's hoping the surgery works. Quite an ordeal as most surgeries are. My eyes look like your picture pretty often so it does not seem that unusual to me!
But seriously I do hope for the best for you and that you regain good vision.
Y'sguy, thanks for the kind words and I'm hoping for the best as well.
Hey good luck and recovery time Bob! You look adorable

You are just two weeks late from Halloween. You could have been able to scare few kids who came for trick or treat
Get well soon my friend!
Thank you
Tapio! One of the many gag gifts friends have given me is a rubber hand with white dress shirt cuff attached. In our previous home I put it in the bib bowl with the candy and let the kids help themselves. They seemed reluctant to take more than one piece, which seemed odd. It's not like there eyes on the back of the hand.
B est of luck with the recovery Bob. Take it easy and don't over do it.
Thanks
Mike. Something about idle hands comes to mind but I'm trying real hard to stay away from the garage and shop.
It seems like you found a really good butcher doctor. Add some humor and a positive outlook on life and all will be well.
Patrik, I wasn't really looking to have the surgery done but after this doctor replaced the floating lens in Liane's eye I asked him if he could do something about mine. He very kindly took a look and said: "Make an appointment." and that started the process (delayed 18 months for some reason).
Glad to see you're on the mend.
Together we'd have a pair of cool peepers. The night after my vitrectomy my eye filled with blood. It felt strange, but I didn't know what had happened until I was allowed to remove the patch a couple of days later.
John, I hope they have been able to fix your problem. If Liane had waited another day to see the ophthalmologist (he saw her Sunday night), she would have completely lost the sight in that eye. Two weeks in bed, face down with a donut pillow (to keep the bubble pressing on the retina) and we thought she was home free. Once you've had a detached retina repaired there's a small chance it can detach again and she was one of those small chances. Another Sunday night call, Monday morning cataract surgery and Tuesday morning retina procedure followed. This time the doctor injected an oil bubble. Another two weeks face down in bed (I set up a flat screen TV on the floor at the foot of the bed so she could watch TV and DVDs. Another surgery to remove most of the oil bubble three months later and Liane could see almost as good as ever (she has worn glasses all her life). The new focal center in that eye was changed by the repairs so her prescription lenses had to include a prism. Twelve years later, when this new surgeon replaced the lens, he reset the focus point and she doesn't need a prism anymore. The advances in eye surgery boggle my mind.
Bob, eye looks rough but your sense of humor remained intact!
Bugnut, I can't help it. From the inside the view is funny! During the surgery little needles kept appearing and disappearing, followed by blood clots that looked like red sperm swimming around. Doctor told me to stop giggling. Now I have a bubble that jumps with each heartbeat and moves when I look up or down. I can also see vitreous humor moving around like heat waves on the highway in Arizona. Quite entertaining but I do look forward to the end of the binge watching because it has no plot.
