As of this morning, I hadn't seen my Secret Santa's package and found out that I am out of town for work until the 27th, so I unfortunately will not be able to post a picture under the tree and opened until Monday night, but as soon as I get home, I will be sure to post pictures!

I believe I received my package this evening. The package doesn't have GJSS on it, but I didn't order anything from Louisiana.

Got my GJSS! It is 40 miles that way and the tree is 11 miles the other way and I am dog watching for a family member in the hospital! Hope to have everything converge tonight and get pics!

(I was the kid under the tree with a razor blade and scotch tape!)

Xmas day tomorrow, no gift rec'd. My 'victim' hasn't as yet indicated delivered but from tracking I know it arrived about a week ago! It went across the pond as well. Hasn't been a positive experience on the whole so sadly will be first and last S/S for me.

It shows shipped. Reported sent last Sat. but US >> UK can get delays, and of course customs...

As disappointed as you are. blips do happen . Peoples lives get busy. In past years there are very few Santa's & recipients that don't pull thru .
It happened to me some years ago, I spent a lot of time getting together gifts , some that were very specific, vintage, basically not replaceable.
My recipient never logged on from early December and thus never acknowledged the gift .
I was upset at the time , but I can only hope he is healthy and OK .

anyway, I figure I'm about 14 hrs away from opening my gift

Thanks Corndoggeh!
Wow, a McMaster catalog!!! Some of you may be unaware that McMaster Carr is really stingy with catalogs. I was denied a catalog in the past because they already sent one to one of our buyers. I don't know how much we spent with MMC on annual basis, but it was substantial. The nice plywood case will protect that valuable asset with class. That is really cool. Corndoggeh hit this one out of the park.

Yes, Jeff, I'm jealous.

Yep agreed, stuff happens especially this year with shipping, could be your victim is out of town, etc. - worth another shot.

Please don't give up yet. I look forward to this every year. It gives us a chance to get to know our fellow GJ members.

German Satin, To reiterate what the others have said; every year a few glitches happen. The vast majority of gifts DO arrivre on time. Overseas shippments are often the worst, as that shipping simply takes longer, and of course custums can cause inordinate delays.

Currently I know this year there are 8 gifts not reported and delivered, (by the SS) or arrived (no pic) or received (pic posted). out of 96 participants. so 91% on time.

Within a few days I expect most, if not all of the remainder to surface. In fact ALL of the remaining "to be delivered" have been reported as shipped. Unless something got stolen off a porch, I don't expect anyone to get grinched based on the reports!

The few times someone DID get Grinched, other members have stepped up to the plate and made it good. This is a stellar group, and we rarely get a bad apple.

As to your victim not reporting - things can happen, and have happened. Family emergencies, hospitalizations, and with Omicron surging, even a death could occur, I and the elves wind up involved with any of these issues, and we work to get these resolved as best we can.

Take a deep breath, and instead, hope/pray that nothing bad has happened. This is my consatnt concern. even for a "Grinch" that simply ghosted. We simply don't know what happened.

I hope you have a merry and safe Christmas. Please have a bit of patience for both your shipped gift, as well as your victim, who may have hit a lifes event where response was just not in the cards.

xmas

Well, it's close enough to Christmas morning for me!

And wow, I can't even put into words how blown away I am. Legit tears in my eyes, keep reading and you'll see why.

So, opening up the box I'm greeted by an envelope and two rolls of hiding shop towels. These aren't just any shop towels, these are specifically for glass and polished surfaces as they don't leave streaks or lint. That is awesome because I'm a nut job when it come to clean, streak free glass in my car. These are going to be awesome, can't wait to use them. Then we have an assortment of various awesome items. Pressure washer pump conditioner and anti-freeze which is pretty damn cool as I have a pressure washer and used up the last of my pump conditioner/anti-freeze winterizing it for this season. Excellent timing. :D Next is a Vessel multibit screwdriver, I had the Craftsman version a while back and lost it, now I have the legit Japan version! Then some Lucas gun oil, while I don't have an actual gun, I do have an air rifle from my childhood that got me into trouble. I can use this on the troublesome air rifle as well as lubricating my tools, way cool! And then, an outlet multitap. Those things are crazy handy to have around, every one of my extension cords on reels has one at their end. Next up, the delicious food items section. We have some bread and butter pickles, some white peach jam and two dry rubs. One rub for chicken and the other for any type of meat. Great timing as for New Years day dinner, we're doing a pork roast. Guess what the seasoning is going to be! And, an Old Bay seasoning mug! There legit is a container of Old Bay in my pantry right now, I use that stuff a lot. And then, a Carhartt Rain Defender full zip hoodie! This brings my total of Carhartt hoodies to five. Say what you want about Carhartt, but their hoodies are the only ones that have held up under the abuse I put them through. Stuff that has destroyed other brand's hoodies have barely put a dent in my Carhartts. And, their flannel insulated jeans are amazingly warm while being out in the cold.

And finally, back to that envelope.......

Crabman is my Secret Santa and the letter has some history and information about where he lives (way cool by the way) and some history about himself (glad you're doing well, keep at it for the little ones!) and some history about the local volunteer Fire/EMS service and the current state of things there. It's been a rough year for all of us in healthcare and it's getting worse. Here in NorthEast Ohio, in the 15 years I've been in EMS I've never seen anything like this before. Nearly every hospital in the area is at its breaking point with patient volume. Nurses and medics I know have quit because of how mentally and emotionally draining things have become. Our agency is horribly understaffed and calls have sat, waiting hours for a unit to be dispatched to help. It's getting harder and harder to keep going, I'm not immune to it myself. Many times this year I've almost walked away, the physical work load isn't the problem, the emotional toll is what's getting a lot of us. Like I said before, it's going to get worse. So, do something to show your local Fire Department/ER nurses and medics that their hard work is appreciated. Send them a pizza or coffee or just some gesture of appreciation. Believe me, it will go such a long way with helping morale with the current state of things. And this is where the tears came from. Crabman made a $100 donation to his local animal shelter on behalf all First Responders. I can't even put into words how amazing that is. Thank you so much, best gift I've received in a long time.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe everyone, we seem to be more divided now than ever before. Now is not the time for that, how about in 2022 we work together and help each other through this mess.

Couldn't wait any longer, my vinegar turned into Makers Mark. 👍 Special treats for the kitties, they will last a long time. We have a finicky old kitty and she is fighting over the tuna snacks, Mrs. Cat is asleep and she will love the chocolate. Mrs Cat is a elementary school librarian and is going to get a big kick out of the "special worm book" we will find a protective sleeve for it , we appreciate how special it is. The pens and flashlight will come in so handy. Topper on the tree is a $75 gift card from GardensAlive.com. Can't express how much it is appreciated, Thank you so much. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, MikeTook this pic from the North Pole Condo.IMG_1579.jpg

Wow wow wow. I can't begin to say thank you enough to astro tools. It is an amazing thing to have someone like you who participates in this secret Santa every year. I recieved a complete load out of sockets. 1/4 and 3/8 drive metric and standard, shallow and deep well sockets, as well as the respective ratchets. I also recieved a tungsten carbide gasket scraper, and one of the coolest shop lights I've ever seen. Seriously the magnet on this thing is crazy, and the suction base is such a great idea. I also recieved a set of spark plug sockets but I forgot to take a picture of them before I left for holiday travels.

Thank you again astro tools for the amazing gifts!

Big thanks to A&P Mechanic for my box of goodies! The Ridgid Pneumatic Roofing Cutter is an air tool I've always wanted for my garage, and the swivel attachment coupler and box of hack saw blades ensure I can put it to use instantly. The reusable zip ties, bit driver and extra long cobalt drill bit are welcome additions to my supply of all three. And as if all of the above weren't already more than expected, a gift card to Home Depot is the whip cream on top of this mug of holiday cheer! Thank you for you accompanying letter, too, and good luck to you and your soon-to-be-bride at your upcoming wedding! Your generosity is amazing, and very much appreciated. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
