Completed the alterations to the mounting bracket for the 100 Amp Alternator. A flap disk trimmed it nicely.
Rattle can primer applied.

I got my *** kicked by the rear tractor tire swap today. I only got one fully done. Got the bead broken on the second and had to stop for the day.

The jack worked great to break the bead. Tire spoons are a must. seating the bead took a while but eventually worked.
LOL, GitErDun
I once used my 20T press to break a bead. Do what ya gotta do... My bead breaker wasn't moved yet.

Finished some plumbing in the basement garage... Outside faucet.
Repaired a garden hose using real brass ends and also repaired a spray nozzle that was leaking out of the front. Spring rusted and did not hold the handle/valve shut. $0.50 at the hardware store and 2 O-rings from the hoard. Good for another 5yrs.
Now I can forget to turn the faucet off, no leaks.

Your beetle has Lug Bolts ;)
Yes it does haha. Fortunately won’t be swollen like the darn Mopar ones are that you have to hammer and 11/16 socket onto because they don’t make a 17.5mm. That or the caps come off making them a 16 so you usually need three different sockets to remove them lol. I hate them either way regardless of what they are on. I wish they had conversion kits for the beetles like they do some of the other cars that have them.

Finally got my hotrod bike off the lift. It was a part time project so it took way too long. I think all I have left to do is to connect the rear light and put on a fuel hose and it should be back on the road. You may notice there's no paint on the tank or fenders. Once I got the paint stripped off, I hit them with some 120 grit super sandpaper to give the steel some grain. Now the only finish is a quick wipedown with WD40 to keep the rust away. The underside of the fenders are coated with POR15. I don't ride in the rain and the bike lives in my workshop so I think it will be ok for a while.

Road debris mitigation...

Hit some goddamn debris on the freeway. There were two vehicles & two motorcycles already pulled over with damage when the guy ahead of me hit some of it & sent it spinning across from the center lane.....

Goddamn it...

After a bit of clean up at home:

That dent is a pisser. I'll get after it with the proper tools in a couple of days, I have an appointment to be a thorough nuisance in the canyons with my Kaw1100 tomorrow.

Now that it's running the bike got a wash today and ridden. Pulled it back in the garage and hit some of the red areas with some polishing compound and then some wax. The seat got the Lexol treatment.
Not exactly mint but understand that it's 31 years old.

Installed "new" garage audio. It's a Marantz 2226B (produced 3/25/1978) I picked up at a garage sale several years ago. Speakers are somewhat less vintage Energy bookshelf speakers liberated from a theater system we no longer use. I do have a pair of late EPI 100s that are more the correct era and style to match the Marantz, but one of the tweeters is dead and I don't want to take time to replace it right now.

In the driveway...

Got the e-track installed in the trailer. Just need another pack of screws to finish screwing into the walls, and some more
¼" - 20 bolts for the floor. #12 sheet metal screws going into all the studs.

Shame I'm only going to use this damned trailer one time..

Did a lot today actually. Drove a couple hours away and met up with forum member @bugnut. He had offered me the mower, and tiller. Then the spreader. I was supposed to go May 1st, but between money being tight, and it being the anniversary of my grandfathers death, I had to reschedule.

Luckily, Bugnut is a rockstar and said to reschedule till today. So we did.

Mower is a 2008 craftsman lts1500 with a brigs and Stratton 17.5 hp. I was told it ran on ether.

Got it, the tiller and the spreader home. He also threw a few gas cans my way, which is PERFECT because I needed one for 2cycle for the chainsaw. And the spreader alone was worth the trip. Been wanting to get one to spread bug-b-gone for the ticks. I cannot lay on the ground anywhere in my yard or pole barn without getting at least ONE deer tick on me.

Unloaded everything and got to work. First cleaned out the rats nest from under the cover. Then got the mower to fire up with little difficulty. But she would NOT move under her own power. After confirming the belt was decent, and that it was in fact turning the pulley on the rear differential, and that there was no noise coming from the differential, the issue must be with the wheels/hubs/spindles/etc. Pulled it apart, and the driver side was missing the woodruff key. Snagged one out of the simplicity, and we were motorvatin! Mowed a few passes in the yard before the left deck pulley stripped off the spindle/mandrel. Gonna take it apart here in a minute to match one up from TSC if they have it like their website shows.

THEN, I pressure washed it thoroughly. She cleaned up decently actually.

THEN, worked on the Craftsman I got from that kid. Got the engine unstuck but it only makes a 1/4 turn either way before locking up solid. Oh well. It was $25, and I got $50 of parts off it (wire harness for the Ariens, throttle linkages for the Ariens, shifter for the Craftsman I just got today).

That’s about it for today. Gotta clean up and get food started. 4am comes stupid quick on Sunday nights/Monday mornings.

Thanks again Bugnut!!!

Hung a new 14" clock in the shop. This one is electric with a battery backup and has an auto-set feature. Set it once and never have to touch it again. It replaces a clock with an atomic movement which never proved to be some what unreliable and required me to take the clock and change the battery once a year.

Finished about 95% of my new RACE DECK free flow garage floor install. Bought this place in January, just put my car in the garage for the first time. (y)
Quick picture. Not set-up as I still have boxes and need to build a bench, but.... Now I have the hurricane resistant garage door AND i can park my car safely inside. No more sun and heat. ;)

Outside the garage- removed dead limbs from our silver maple (mostly drought damage...) including the main "shoot" up the middle, down to 8 ft off the ground.

A LOT of wood to cut up yet. I estimate we cut near half the limbs... its now a very OPEN tree...

1 Open.jpg
The last cut was 10" with my old 14" mcClolouh Electric Cainsaw al the resl were gone with a saws al adn a wrecking blade.

The Main trunk is 16" We planted this tree from a 20 gallon bucket IIR about 32 years ago...

2 Crew cut.jpg

The last chunk
3 last cutoff.jpg

The main Pile - there is another smaller pile in the front ayrd for the limbs that landed outside he fence.

I broke out the Mothers and polished the rims on the bike.
Now I'm looking at tires. The tires on it now were replaced about 20 years ago and they aren't the OEM size because I couldn't find a set in those sizes. I'm still having trouble with the OEM size - I can find a front but not a rear and vice versa so a set is not in the cards. They did start making the Dunlop K505s again in the OEM sizes but I'm seriously considering switching to radials this time.
At this point it looks like the next set will not be the OEM size - it will not be the current size either. Got a lot of research to do to see what will work.

Sunday morning I pulled out the air compressor and played tire man. My wife's car had the freaking tire light on again. I ventured on to check the other vehicles; truck, trailer, skid loader, garden tractor and all four of the bicycles. The auto deflating tire on the skid loader received a new plug in one of the leak holes. It felt like a victory 👍
