Got some things at The Home Depot today. A 12 piece Mayhew punch and chisel set. I wanted to get the Snap-on but honestly I’m tired of waiting on everything to come in from Snap-on plus I don’t need to spend anymore money than I have too lol. But I may get them eventually. We will see how these hold up I know the name Mayhew so I hope they are the same quality they have been in years past. Then some Philips and flat head bit sockets. They will do me for right now till I find some better ones after I do some research.

It's getting time for a box tour there Blake. You've been adding a lot over the last few months.

Price came down to a decent price so I picked up another pair of compact bolt cutters. I already have a pair of CoBolts that have been great but these new ones have the notched blade.

Funny, I didn't know that you could? :D

This one is an AWD. "Like new, damaged packaging". Only thing I found was a slight crease on the box, I've had new regular priced items come with way more damaged packaging than these. :)

I normally don't look at Apex brands tools anymore ever since they killed off Armstrong & Allen. I've seen these a bunch of times in store but never picked one up to check them out. At least they haven't killed off the Lufkin brand yet but why they combined the Lufkin name with Crescent I don't understand. Wanted to give the low light visibility tape a try. These are actually the older G1 that I liked better than the new G2. Not sure if I like the black & yellow tape yet but overall I think they look cool, well different than usual.

Snap-on Monday today. Lady Slipper and hood prop. Vise grips also makes a good hood prop lol. But I needed an excuse to buy more tools so yeah. Then he also is getting me one of the small twist style ones that goes on the strut itself. Forgot to bring my socket from home that I cracked for him to replace but he will be back tomorrow or Thursday though so I can get it done then. Oh and the green box isn’t mine it’s just convenient to take pictures on lol.

I've been traveling 3+ months out of the year so far, so not much time to share tool purchases. By far my favorite tool buying experience this year was getting a chance to stop by JTDCO to meet Nick and Nick. Spent a few hours chatting and left with some tools. Highly recommend stopping by if you get a chance. Some real nice tool truck goodies that I would assume were purchased from other tool truck business retiring/liquidating inventory; I don't think you'll ever see them on their website. I also think it's worth mentioning that the table has good acoustics - good for making big noises. I tried to lure them onto the forum, hope they introduce themselves.

Got a crack head deal on this guy since it was living rent free on their shelf. My gf's sister moved into a new apartment, and it was the perfect shelf/picture hanging set up. Will be handy for that honey do list.

i-WscqPPq-L.jpg

And basically picked up a few things on my wish list:

i-G885HBz-L.jpg

Diggin their new light; will take it over a maxxeon any day. The rubber boot was a nice touch. Same material as their milwaukee boots.

i-xgftTZG-L.jpg

Decided to give these a try. Every time I use my oil filter socket (74mm) on metal cannister filters, there is enough slop for the socket to really bind its self on the socket.

i-sf4vqgZ-L.jpg

Another around the house tool I wanted to give a try. Changing all the light fixtures in my house and detached garage, so these should get some use.

i-7mX7dqw-L.jpg

Drill boot

i-nm5pz3H-L.jpg

Now tools I've gotten from mr. snappy...

New 1/4" drive torque wrench.

i-QV8fzKk-L.jpg

You can see they really slimmed these handles down.

i-4JvhVvz-L.jpg

Compared to the new 3/8 I picked up earleir this year.

i-bQPGN6w-L.jpg

Flat jaw locking pliers

i-fKjMbvv-L.jpg

New needle nose pliers

i-x5LnH4L-L.jpg

New lineman pliers

i-3Cw48bj-L.jpg

Not sure how long these have been out for, but I think fairly new? Flat head screwdriver style pry bar.

i-stt93G9-L.jpg

Roll pin punch set

i-Mzbs7nn-XL.jpg

Extra chisel

i-sdtnmHm-L.jpg

T handles made by Bondhus for SO. I prefer the strait handles on these and the length. Don't think Bondhus offered this length/handle combo, and you'll see why I needed it like this. Got metric and sae hex, and torx.

i-LJzXM3J-L.jpg

i-BSKZc2W-L.jpg

i-SR5DPGB-L.jpg

So they will fit that lower slotted rack perfectly...my OCD is very happy.

i-QVptd8s-L.jpg

Some empty soft cases for organizing some diagnostic stuff

i-N4TddCt-L.jpg

Now for other ends and bobs I picked up..

Saw this 3 battery + drill combo for $250 at HD. Needed another drill, and the three batteries were a deal I couldn't resist. Two 5.0 in the kit, plus the one in the blister packaging.

i-9mgxpwC-L.jpg

Hazet ratching t handle in 1/4 drive. I think I saw this here, and had to have it.

i-V66qdtt-L.jpg

Proto bornze drift punch.

i-s9q8D5R-L.jpg

Saw on last best tool and again...had to have. He made a great point about it mimicking one of the pics I use often.

i-SrmTgVK-L.jpg

Stahlwille file set. I think these were like $25 on amazon when I got them. Not terribly impressed; not made in Germany. Okay for the price, very nice case. lol

i-twZgdkk-L.jpg

Wera 1/4 and 3/8 impactor hex adapters. After blowing up a rapidaptor in the blink of an eye (I was working at a friends house and had to use what I had), I added these to my adrenal. They don't get any love on youtube or online, but they retain bits incredibly well, zero slop. Very very nice.

i-q33s4mV-L.jpg

My first Capri purchase - stubby 3/8 drive metric impact socket set. Pretty cheap for what it is, initial impressions are pretty good.

Nice haul! Big fan of JDTCo myself, I’ve bought a few things from them and have always been happy with their prices and service. Question on the JDTCo green pliers grips - are they a smooth vinyl-type grip, or is there a texture to them similar to Snap-on pliers? I’ve been thinking about picking up some of them, but can’t tell what the texture is like.

Smooth vinyl, zero texture. They are neat little pliers. Not sure how much use they will see, but looking for any excuse to help out a family owned/run business.

Glad I can share the joy of quality tools here. I feel the frequency of these tool hauls will take longer. I’m simply not buying as much at the moment for reasons. I may share those reasons in a future Garage Gallery thread. :)

There is also a Knipex 38 81 200 A model that is the same as the B but with less bend in the nose portion. I have had both come in very handy.

Some new to me vise grips. Peterson 5 inch USA made from eBay. Got these for the house. These were the only reasonably priced Peterson/Irwin USA that I could find. Everyone wants outrageous prices for them. I have the Bremen version at work which is pretty good but these are better but the Bremen would of been my next choice had these not been available.

ACE hardware sale and I also had $10 in rewards coupons from my company, picked up a Craftsman 3/8 drive torque wrench for $43 out the door. Also got a Snap on palm ratchet under warranty. Put it next to the other old style I have for comparison. Really prefer the older one but they couldn’t come up with a rebuild kit. I’m betting the new one fits in the old one. ***** I had to surrender my other old style.

jackstands
Esco 3T
I have the same stands, and also bought the optional tubes with a U-shaped top, which I have not had any use for yet. They work great and give a substantial feel as to their stability. I was wary, though, of the tiny linch pin included with mine (the pin that keeps the cross pin from sliding out). Maybe they've upgraded them, but on mine, the pin's diameter was hardly big enough, and the small size of the linch pin has very little spring pressure to hold it closed. I replaced those with a proper sized locking clevis pin. The second one in McMaster's picture.

I debated about getting the kit that included both tops, but I have a set of regular stands I've been very happy with (ProLift, which are the same as the current HF Dayton 3-ton jacks) that are essentially the function of the U-shape.

I got the Esco set because I'm not loving how the old-school stands work with the jack-point pads my Mini and BMW use.
FsJVcw.jpg
That thing is a little sketch on top of old-school posts. I have a QuickJack, but while it's taken over 80%+ of of the duties I'm still finding a fair number of situations where I want/need stands. So the Escos will be primary and the others will be for axles, etc. I might be doing the oil pan on the X5, which requires dropping the subframe, so the OG stands will probably get the call there.

I'll check it out.

I've left the stands in the boxes (or what's left of the them - lol) for now. I'm sure they're fine.
