^ OLSA appears to be operating out of Canada, not the U.S. , and it doesn't appear that they actually manufacture anything unless you've found something to indicate otherwise.

Olsa / Olsa Tools Canada, 1807 2 St, Nisku, AB T9E 0W8, Canada / https://olsatools.com/ /

The "street view" image is rather telling when you consider the range of products they're offering in their main catalog. ;)

I think olsa is going to be a player in years to come they put out nice tools and a fairly priced.. they are just slow pumping out new product... but they have been spending a ton on advertising and the guy told me in the email they have a bunch of tools coming down the line in the next 3 years

The field is getting too crowded. When Sears went **** up about 8 years ago that's when the market was ready for new players in the good but reasonably priced tools. Since then Tekton, Capri, Olsa and several lesser players have entered the market. The vacuum left when Craftsman died has now been filled. One of the reasons I started selling TOPTUL is my belief that TOPTUL could fill that vacuum with premium quality tools at very reasonable prices. Problem was they were unwilling to make the commitment it took to make that happen. To this day I feel they blew a chance to become a major player in the American market but that opportunity has passed.

It's good to have it crowded gives consumers plenty to pick from and makes tool makers have to stay creative... in my humble opinion craftsman never made a ratchet I liked their sockets but their business model was sound for a long time

I see three different active "Olsa" threads but nothing to indicate they're a manufacturer or have any sort of production facilities in the U.S.
Just screenshots of catalog pages.

maybe we need a couple more "Olsa" threads? :headscrat

The location of business I see in their Amazon listings is Santa Fe Springs, CA. I assume that means there’s a few warehouses or offices, but who knows how the company is set up. Since they seem to be a relabeller / distributor, not a manufacturer, so like Tekton their reputation will be a matter of their skill in curating the right offering with the right supply chain at the right price point. If they can find a niche, good. I’d agree, it is crowded at the moment. And everyone is gunning for a slice of the better-than-average grade of product to try to bring up margins. I get a little put-off by anyone describing themselves as a tool truck alternative, because it’s not meaningful.

I agree with dnschmidt. I haven’t yet tried Toptul, but all of the favourable comments here say there was an opportunity. 5 years ago would have been a good time to take advantage of a void in the market, and to take advantage of the shift to online. But would have required quite an investment in warehouse and inventory. And probably a regional website. And a carefully curated regional offering. I can see that if they saw themselves as a manufacturer it could take a shakeup in leadership to carry out such a strategy.

Dare I say I like my Toptul sockets more than my Snap on sockets 😂. I wish I had bought some more Toptul stuff from him while I had the chance.
That’s what I mean... this sort of comment here interests me a lot more than another “we’re like a tool truck” seller on Amazon. I’ve haunted the Cryer Tool website a few times now looking at stuff I don’t need...

I strolled casually through Olsa tools Instagram and didn't find much USA made. Just my 2 cents.
I didn't think they had anything USA made I thought these ratchets were the first and it's probably a rebrand of a known ratchet just excited to find out

I had purchased a set of the Olsa Diamond tipped screwdrivers a couple of years back and they are fantastic.

I wanted another set for my road box, and when I went on their website, Amazon and eBay… they couldn’t be found. So I sent the company an email and they responded quickly that they no longer carry that product and have them in-stock. About two weeks later, my 1/4” slotted chipped off a chunk of the tip… needless to say, there’s no way to get it warrantied and I’m not sure how to go about replacing it as I truly liked it and now my set is incomplete.

They weren’t on the market for more than a couple years, so that’s disappointing. I think these fly by night tool companies rebrand stuff for a little while, then move on to the next thing…

That being said, Olsa is off my list. Such a shame too as I really liked some of their products.

Nothing lasts forever. Five years from now I might not be able to buy an M18 battery for my Milwaukee tools. Would that piss me off considering that I'm got $30,000 worth of Milwaukee M18 batteries and tools, yes. But time marches on and **** happens. Makita is already transitioning to their 40V line who knows how long they will continue to support their 18V lineup? Why avoid a superior product because you're worrying about what to do five years from now. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

I purchased a 5" vise from them, its the forged steel model. The light weight vs cast works great being I am dealing with apt living atm.

Apples to oranges.

How long has the M18 platform been on the market? 10 years and counting. How long will it continue being on the market? It might make it to 15 before they phase it out. That’s a reasonable amount of time for a product to be on the market. You can easily apply the “Cross that bridge when you come to it” mentality.

A company who introduces a product (in this case, a screwdriver set) with a LIFETIME WARRANTY, pulls it from the market after less than 2 years, remains in business but doesn’t have any left to warranty when one breaks… that’s incredibly disappointing and makes me skeptical of buying any other products from that company. My trust is broken.

It does look like an LP90, esp the selector lever.

And it looks like they're all sold out except for the 1/2 at this time.

Looks like they went all out on the USA made part per Amazon description;
★ MADE IN THE USA - Completely engineered, fabricated and assembled in the USA using 100% domestically-sourced parts and materials. Industrial-grade Chromium Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel provides strength and shatter-resistance so you can be confident that your low profile ratchet will be a lifetime companion through your toughest jobs.

If you click on the other drive sizes and color selections, you can get repair kits to show up for each drive size along with a stubby and a 12 inch 3/8 drive flex head. The stubby 3/8 runs $99 and change, while the 12 inch 3/8 flex head is going for $120.87 :wtf: Kind of expensive for an Olsa ratchet, even a made in the USA Olsa Ratchet :dunno:
So are we thinking that somehow SK made a batch of LP90 ratchets in Olsa Trim before they sold the company? or are these the first Great Star owned SK products? Who else could be the manufacturer? I'm more intrigued by who made the ratchets than the ratchets themselves.

Or Olsa has been using Great Star for sourcing, and GS is now offering USA made ratchets to them.
