Made some progress on my Buick GN frame which is getting a 25.5 chassis. Also upgraded the old Miller AutoArc 120 mig welder with a HF Vulcan MigMax 215.0702221523a_HDR.jpg0702222016a.jpg0702222016.jpg
Nice work.What year Grand National?
Love that your welding in shorts,I do the same thing. It’s always good for a couple burns.I did learn not to plasma cut in flip flops though.

Started some PM work on the JD.

Whoever at Deere thought it would be smart to have an inline filter underneath plumbed like they do is an idiot. ****** on filter= 1", ****** coming out of the tank= 1" Hose connecting them is 2 1/4" long. Yeah, try to clamp that one off, I drained the tank.

Oh, did I mention the spring hose clamps were pointed up with no access ?

Made a 5/8" thick piece of aluminum 1/2” thick by carefully feeding it through my table saw. I know the job would be better done with a Mill or a Shaper, but when you have neither of those you do the best you can with what you have.

Drilled the last hole in the Aluminum piece and installed the last bolt for the belt tensioner. Next step is to get the engine pulley and alternator pulley into alignment and mount the alternator. My legs began to hurt so an calling a time out on working in the shop today.

Might get to a store and buy battery cables. We also will probably have Chinese Takeout for supper.

I had received an invitation to watch Coronado's Fourth of July Parade from a front row seat. The parade is the biggest thing we do in Coronado, I responded and accepted the invitation.

The parade has changed over the years; we had no Brass Era cars this year, the oldest running cars in the parade were those entered by the Model T Club. The 1929 Studebaker "Paddy Wagon" was carried on a trailer this year. Our city Fire Department's antique Mack is now powered by a small block Chevy.

All the standing and saluting as The Flag was carried by wore me out; maybe I should consider playing my Handicapped Card.

Escaped injury when my home's original 30+ year old wooden drop down ladder broke while I was climbing up to put some things in the garage loft/attic. I wasn't planning to spend money on a new ladder anytime soon, but since I'll have to now, it'll be a metal frame one.

One trick I came up with to align belt driven accessories on fabbed installs is to tie or tape archery arrows to the pulleys. You can easily spot off axis by sighting the arrow alignments.

Removed fuel rack and injectors of Nissan Hardbody (VG30 engine). Purpose is to bench test injectors for possible blockage. Refuses to start thought at times there are attempts to fire up. There is spark and fuel up to the furl rack. So basically I am doing fault finding.

Got up and got the rear fender polished on the new parts. Running errands now, but when I get home I'll throw the Sportster on the lift and start swapping them out.

Replaced the front struts on my daughter's Mini over the weekend, then took it in for an alignment.

Then started the next phase of the audio upgrade on my 350Z - put the subwoofer box together yesterday: JL Audio Stealthbox with 2 - 10" Infinity Kappa subs.

I walked in there and thought about how I'm going to hang the bicycles on the wall from hooks. I've done this about 5 times in the last week.

We have an older wooden ladder like that in the garage and a newer metal in the shop. The metal one feels more flimsy than the old wood one.

Moved all the furniture back into the house from the garage now that the new floors have cured enough. Wife gets to park in the garage again. A couple more odds & ends and I will get to park in the garage again.

Ordered new drive belt for the compressor. That will be here tomorrow. Former B-i-L is coming by tomorrow to pick up the Horrible Fright 23(?) gal compressor. Some of the stuff that got piled back on the shelf in the corner later got moved up to the attic.

Need to drain HF compressor to remove the QD connector I fitted to it.

So inquiring minds and all - what was the ladder's weigh rating and...

Two years back a guy on my annual hunting trip was saying last DAY "goodbye" to the privy seat I've used for 3 decades and it collapsed on him. He was lucky and didn't land in the pit, The seat needed hosed off...

The "U" clips the top rested in had straightened out under his weight. I bent them back and added a third after I got home. the third is MUCH beefier, and could take the whole load by itself, so should not repeat.

But I was serious about the ladders weight ratings, I know many in daily use are over capacity, especially if the guy has a heavy tool belt...

”last gay goodbye” to a toilet seat? That brings up some really bad images..lol

Put my microfiber towels and car wash buckets back up on the shelf. I left them out after washing my car yesterday.

Washed up a nice ride with my youngest son, it’s ready for a wax job tomorrow. He is super-into auto detailing, and is constantly watching detailing videos on YouTube. We have three jobs lined up for this week - he’s keeping his old man busy!
I watched a few over the space of a couple of weeks, at which point YT decided to flood my feed with them. I now have most of the detailing channels blocked.

I used a "plastic stapler/welder" to stitch in a replacement clip tower on a piece interior trim for our Flex (no pics, sorry). I accidentally broke off the tower for that panel clip when removing that piece of trim to inspect the connections to the backup camera (I'm waiting for Ford to issue a recall for our vehicle...they've done it for all sorts of other models around the same vintage). But when I put everything back together there was a rattle - and that rattle grated at me everytime I was in the car, because I knew I was the cause

After "stapling" the replacement section back in, I used a soldering iron and thin strips of the plastic from the donor clip tower to fill the gaps of the "weld" and reinforce the repair. It's all back together and the rattle is gone!

I had a few projects in the garage over the July 4th weekend.

1. Replaced the air bags in the rear suspension of my dad's '86 Turbo Regal.
2. Converted the aftermarket hydraulic rear brake light switch on my motorcycle back to the stock mechanical switch.
3. Picked up my toolbox hutch from Harbor Freight and installed it, which was no easy task.
4. Jumped back into the transmission swap/motor mount replacement on my old Honda.

It started with intentions of only swapping in an LSD transmission and replacing the motor mounts, but while I'm in there I also resealed the oil pan and replaced the rear main seal. I'm finding various nuts and bolts that have severely rusted over the years and replacing them with new fasteners. Any rusted brackets that I'm finding are being removed, stripped and powder coated.

Helped a friend/old co-worker move his big stuff over the weekend in my truck. Appliances, couch and such, no big deal, 3 fairly short trips. Gifted me this Bolens weed eater (had no head on the bottom) that he said wouldn't start this spring (and a 30
pack). Of course clean plug and fresh mix, started right up. Went and got the 3 piece Warrior plastic blade kit. Never tried before. Starts pouring down rain for the first time in weeks as soon as I'm ready to run it:dunno:. Sit back and survey things while I threw a frozen Screamin' Sicilian frozen pizza on the grill and enjoyed the beers.
