This year, concentrated on the north/south leg of the L-shaped state highway, which is not I90, though they come close to intersecting, north of Cayuga.

First $5 went for this Indestro socket boxE3E27FC0-5F70-4040-8E8D-1F19887BA1FD.jpegbecause of these Bonney longs.
ACE4EBA8-A363-4032-B608-367A9D7277B4.jpeg
Next $10 went for this 3/4hp C’man table saw motor. An impulsive purchase, and later spotted a 1/2hp at half the rpm (which I would prefer), but it was $40. C897D0C7-C28E-4F56-A21D-095A35FBB210.jpeg
$10 for this box105031E1-97E1-4AA3-918D-B0C99926BACB.jpeg
because of these Bonney items.2D4632F5-EA13-40F9-99D7-9846160A98ED.jpeg
And other things. 0A661625-ECD6-49CF-BEFE-678AA4B1F8DF.jpeg
$.25 for this 1905 patent Utica fencing pliers. B5D449B9-90CD-4BF4-8504-234243F42489.jpeg
These were $1-3 eaF34DFDD5-60D1-4B00-9237-1CF0AA9A046A.jpeg
But my favorite $5 purchase included three smooth cut #50 Nicholson cabinet rasps. OMG, I have paid more for a modified No49. These retail around $90ea new, but will need a soak in MetalRescue before I can be sure how much wear they may have. The **** chisels are Utica, a novelty to me.9C24E50F-3F0D-4A73-85D9-E40F37826C55.jpeg

So all for $35-40.
“Pro”-tip: the event is not centrally organized, so many sales actually start earlier in the week. Also, there are many contemporaneous sales in the area, but miles off rt90, so taking alternate routes to avoid traffic snarls is not a bad thing. It continues today (Sunday).
Our day was not without mishap. Pop lost his wallet in Cayuga, but didn’t realize it until we hit the Wegmans in Ithaca (wish we had stopped in Aurora!), so back to Cayuga, passing by another great concentration of sales (Cayuga and Union Springs being my lakeview favs) at Kings Ferry, without stopping.
Asked around Cayuga places where he bought stuff and walked the weedy shoulders where we had parked, to no avail. Hopefully, some honest soul will have picked it up, and makes contact.
Seeing most people covering up for the night, we headed past Montezuma and down the western shore on NY89, skirting the Neutral Zone near Romulus, on NY13 through the sleepy Southern Tier town of Elmira, and finally back to PA, where the welcoming committee waited. 4FA43CE9-A25F-4243-A81E-6FB6452660AC.jpeg

Not posted here in quite a while, my usual sale is only monthly, but I typically leave with a few purchases. Anyway won't go looking for old pics of purchases, just today's.

Above is the main tool haul, most were from a single vendor, bottom right from a second vendor. Bicycle tools 4 park spanners, 2 campagnolo, 1 no name. Stanley sweetheart plane blade (frequently heard of sweetheart logo here, but actually never seen one, not much life left in the blade sadly though) Stanley 51, rolls Royce single ended spanner. The second vendor had the offset screwdriver, it's Stanley as well, the spanner is from an Austin car tool set, and a Brooks bicycle tool. And the two heavy blacksmith sledge's.

€35 for all that, as I have mentioned previously, my country isn't cheap for vintage stuff, but I'm quite chuffed with these. Need to do some clean up and see if there is more research to do. The rolls seems to be worth a bit online

Sorry to hear about Pops lost wallet. That’s the worst. Not only can’t you find something important but you are also passing up good deals. Did you check under your vehicle seats and in between the seats ? Those spaces can hold alot of items. Also you must be a magician to get all 3 pups together for a photo and looking at the camera. That’s amazing! 😂

Lost Boy, those Campy wrenches are nice!
I do a bit of work on a few old bikes, typically with just a standard tool kit plus a few bike specific, usually no name stuff. Had picked up a specific park tool before and loved the quality of it, the park tools feel like toys compared to the campy though! I knew the name, but had never handled them before.

So true. Three of us had our heads in places even our feet rarely go. I pulled out two mummifries, and then MrsLS found a third I had missed.
Or he could be holding a hotdog in his teeth! 🌭
Honestly, LesserDaughter2 took the photo; highly talented behind the camera. Probably extra sharp cheddar.

Me too, mostly on older British and American bikes. So I too pick up the various Park and other bike tools and bits I encounter. Never came across a Campagnolo piece yet.

@3baygarage My Restore is the same way. I rarely stop there anymore....
hab is same in these parts.
goodwill sells all their good stuff online.
salvation army is out of business completely.

pretty much skunked the past couple weeks.
this week found a partially-filled 60 cf cylinder of nitrogen w/dual gauge regulator for $10. will replace a busted gauge and keep it for my little mig set. also picked up a few 60s/70s records for about $10. as well as a 3-liter asbach-uralt brandy bottle (no cradle or pouring spout) for fiddy 'cen and an old sears portable multi-band radio for $5. last two items will go to my old army roomy who deals in that stuff.
went out fri and found a gal at one sale was posting each item at ebay price (ex: 70s records at $10-$25 ea.) - shockingly, most of the items were still there.
another sale out in ranch country was at an old general store. most everything was worn out, used up, abused/broken, badly weathered, rusty or just plain junk - but still offered at premium price. (ex: non-working '70s console tv for $20, severely weatherbeaten dining room table turned shed workbench for $65, etc.). oddly enough, most of that stuff was still there, too.

finally single again (thank god!), need to get house back in order for me and the boy.
this is probably the (early) end of my picking until next spring.

Good looking pups.
Hit up one sale today that looked promising, priced very high for stuff I didn't want, haven't bought a thing all year, doesn't help that I work Saturday.
Hope Pops wallet shows up intact!

That blade will last your lifetime, unless you seriously put lots of miles on one plane. OR abuse it by hitting nails a lot.

Didnt get a lot this weekend but each item had a detail that I liked.
The metal level is an 8" Mayes.
The roofing hatchet is a Collins Legitimus .
The drill index is from The Acorn Line. Never heard of them.

There was one new sale listed on Craigslist this morning so we thought that we would check it out since it was less than 15 minutes away. We found quite a few interesting tools Including several K-D items.

In general another quiet weekend tool sale wise though I was able to pick up a couple of in good shape socket sets.

Williams 3/8" drive SAE socket set. This set didn't look to have traveled far in its life since I picked it up literally around the corner from the old William's plant.

Armstrong 1/4" drive SAE socket set picked up at a family run estate sale of an electrician. Not sure if the wrenches are original to the set to make some kind of electrical set?.....who knows.

Tops drawers are embossed with: Steel Storage File Co., Wooster, Ohio
The bottoms say: Record Files Co., Wooster Ohio

Too many similarities between the two brands for me to believe that they aren't the same company--but can't find proof.
Did some digging over the past few weeks, yes, but not sure exactly. See here for more details

Garage "gifted" today. Been helping a neighbor a few doors down with moving out the last few weeks. Old feller hit 100, his widow is in her 80's. I've known them for 30+ years. She called and asked me to come over today. Said she found this in the garage and wanted me to have it. They were married 40 some years and she claims to have never seen it before:) Crosman M1 bb gun. Plastic stock, looking it up online appears to be early to mid 70's? Below an old RWS .177 I have for size reference. Missing the bb holder/magazine. Going on the wall as is anyway(y)

Thanks. It's funny she never saw it. They were "loaded up" fine in the house no problem, so with her being a major animal lover, he had to hide it from her while plinking at cats and other undesirables  They make a reproduction plastic magazine. No genuine ones currently on ebay. Being 100, there have been dozens of family members over picking through stuff. Cool she set it aside for me.

We Open with a Wide Shot

A modest farm house, a modest porch.

We Zoom in Closer on Porch

An elderly couple sitting in rocking chairs on either side of a small round table with two glasses and a jug of iced tea. She, modest print dress, knitting. He, plaid shirt and suspenders, reading the Farmer's Almanac.

SHE: My, what a perfect Ahia morning.

HE: Sure is.

SHE: Just listen to them songbirds. Nature's grand ole' opry.

HE: Mm-hmm.

She suddenly puts her knitting down in her lap.

We Zoom in Closer Framing Only the Couple

SHE: Come to think of it, when's the last time you seen a cat or a rabbit or a squirrel around here?

He ignores her.

SHE: Ned?

The light glints off his specs as he raises his head slightly.

HE: I don't rightly know, dear.

The specs go dark again as he lowers his head back to his book.

She resumes her knitting.

We Close-Up on Him

The look on his face is somewhere between a smirk, a grimace, holding back a massive fart in church, and those moments when our mind is weighing once again the pros and cons of the little white lie, the consequences here on earth, the consequences in the great hereafter, and deciding that taking your chances with the Man Upstairs is more bearable than the Missus.

You need to come up with a new reply. Something like "That's not a BB, that's an alien probe!" might be over the top. Maybe just pretend that you have no idea how it got there, and see where the conversation evolves from there.

Does it set off security metal detectors?

BB’s are so tiny they don’t set off metal detectors.

I’ll try to act surprised if I ever get a leg X-Ray again. Maybe I’ll say
”I always thought that alien abduction thing was just a dream” lol
