It was a bit of a PITA. My method was to cut paper to the shape, transfer that to cardboard and then use the cardboard as a cutting template. It wasn't a perfect process (mainly lack of skill on my part), but it didn't need to be.
Haha, after I read your post I went into the garage & looked at the HF one. One quick look and I thought, yeah that's not gonna happen. Too much work, this thing only cost me the same as a meal out, not worth it to me. I do like the idea though.

I use CAD too (cardboard aided design). ;) But since these are pockets/recesses I was thinking of using the tape method. Use masking tape all the way around the edges then transfer that over to cut. Who knows maybe I might still do it one day but I know I will really procrastinate on it.

I hate to burst your bubble; but those Drill Hog USA drill bits are NOT made in the USA. That is the NAME.....
Agreed. Some Drill Hog bits are made in the US and are clearly marked as such on their website:

… but there are others sets that don’t have the “made in USA” language which is suppose can be interpreted as “it’s domestic if we bother to point it out, but if we didn’t that’s because it isn’t”.

On my way through KC last week, I stopped by Harry Epstein’s. Two hours and more than a few dollars later, I left with a small stack.

Proto flat blade screwdriver set
2 12” Palmgren C-clamps with 10” throat
Shinwa taper gauge
Garland 2” rawhide deadblow hammer
Set of 3 Gray Tools pin spanners
Set of 2 Wright face spanners
Mayhew brass punch set
Set of Moody micro-wrenches - something I didn’t know existed became something I had to have over the course of 10 seconds.

I had a nice time in the store. It isn’t often that I see tools that I have no idea what they are, but it happened several times when I was in there.

Defendant must stop if you visit KC. Every time I visit I make sure to make a stop in....even if I don't need anything.

This lot was all piled into a box, had no idea there were full sets of SK sockets and wrenches among the other items. 1/4"-1" on the wrenches, shallow sockets, and 7/16"-1" on the deep wells. Won it for $20

Nice. $20 well spent. I went to the preview but still couldn't see what was in some lots. It was just mess. Won a couple of lots myself. Still in the trunk of wife's car. lol

Matco Wednesday today. Had to make an excuse to go on the truck lol. Needed to get one of my 3/8 locking flex heads warrantied as the pawl snapped inside of it when I was tightening something. Funny thing is he was rebuilding it and the kit he got also had a broken pawl in it. So luckily he had another one with no issues. Needed another set of needle nose pliers for my cart. I don’t have any in my cart just my box. So I got the Matco in green. Not a fan of green but this green is definitely better than the Snap-on green lol. 3 more pairs of socks as that’s what he had. And something I’ve needed for awhile thin wrenches which are life savers. The district manager has been coming with the Matco guy since he started and he kept making remarks of how I should not expect warranty on stuff I didn’t buy new originally or that I didn’t buy from this guy. The dealer stepped in and said no I want business so I’ll warranty anything covered under warranty no matter what or where it came from.
That's strange. My snapon and matco drivers have never questioned it. I mean unless you're the first guy ever on the route I think you can expect some tools didn't come from the current dealer. And my first matco dealer originally was from when I lived in a different part of the state.

New inspection/work light for my road box. Expensive place to buy a light, but I wanted something small that usb charged, which I could have a look at before buying.

I’ve used it a handful of times already, very pleased with it:

and some Knipex pliers, I had been after them for a long time and finally they had the right price.
I have had mine since they were introduced. They are an excellent redesign of the basic slip joint pliers, with the broken screw removal end jaws added in. I find myself using them for all sorts of things where I never would have considered using basic slip joints. The straight-on design provides a good alternative to the angled Cobras.

Ha! Small world! I wandered around the preview for a while and saw some things I missed online.. the mini cannon would have been awesome to get. Never fired according to one of the auction guys.. dude that lived there made them, 2 others went to his sons. He also said there will be at least 2-3 more.. there's 4 more outbuildings filled with tools and household things.

That second box came from a sale in Wildwood that didn't have a preview unfortunately, I couldn't believe it went so cheap though!

I love/hate Tekton. I love that they offer quality that is really good for my DIY needs. I love that their price is affordable for me and I don't feel like I've overspending on tools that I won't earn a living with. I love their rewards program and I love their customer service.

I hate that they have me sucked in to buying tools a lot, lol.

I got an email from them that they added the 55 piece 1/4 drive set to their "overstock" sale items. After the sale and applying of my rewards to it, I paid $38 for this. I told myself that I wouldn't buy 1/4" stuff because I don't use it much and the Craftsman USA circa 1988 set I have is completely fine (although that ratchet *****). But alas...

Now I'm promising myself not to buy the 1/2" chrome... the Craftsman USA is totally fine for the limited use it gets. I'm focusing on impact for 1/2". Although I'll probably upgrade my 1/2" ratchet because those Craftsman ones are awful.

I think Tekton has some of their 1/2 drive impact sets on overstock sale too :bounce:

$38 for that set is a great deal!!! Now that you have that set, I'm sure you'll use 1/4 drive more.

Some cutting wheels. Went to HD to buy the Milwaukee right angle grinder but they were out of the ones with the battery. So I’ll order one online. Though I need it today. I’m borrowing a Craftsman one so decided to get my own wheels because the guy only buys Dewalt wheels for his and I’m not sure how well they do. Not sure how well these do either I was looking for Diablo which I’m familiar with but apparently Lowes doesn’t sell them. These get high ratings so hopefully will do well and if they do when mine comes in I’ll use them on this. I’ll need the tool in the future too when we do more exhaust work. Exhaust work on a semi isn’t too bad but the clamps bolts break off so the clamp stays stuck on. That’s why we need this. Can’t get in with a hacksaw and would be there all day with that thing lol. Thought about getting a different brand cutting tool but I’m team red all the way and not sure how other power tool brands are these days.

I don't recall the specifics and I didn't bother to look, but I noticed a few days back that Tekton has a **** ton of products out of stock. On both their website and Amazon.

I find it interesting they have anything on an "overstock sale". But again, I didn't look.

@Madjik Man -

If you only paid $38 bucks for that TEKTON SKT05301 socket set, you stole it.
I just paid almost twice that for the same set I bought for a buddy of mine who does most all the work on my vehicles.
He LOVES it.
He doesn't pull his little Snap-on kit out now. Just goes for the Tekton and the odd little "Titan" ratchets I gave him with the set.

Thanks. I’d have to go confirm with the order but I think the set is on sale for $64(?). Then I finally just used the rewards dollars building up for a few months to bring it down to $38.

New Crimson ratchet for the house. This length is my preferred length for just about everything especially drain plugs. Got it for the house because I don’t have one this size and was going to change the oil today in dads car but didn’t get too because it started pouring. The last few times in the car and Escape the drain plug has been so seized up I guess from all the hot and cold. Had to dig out a big 1/2 because my regular length 3/8 wouldn’t cut it. Wanted to get the DieHard from Advance Auto but decided I’d put that money towards the Milwaukee grinder instead since I really don’t need fancy for home. My grinder should be here Wednesday hopefully that’s when it says. Checked everywhere for one with a battery but they were all out of them.

Isn't that a "backwards" ratchet that you so dislike?
