First thing on my list when I get a new rig…..take the dealer stickers, license plate advertisement and any other advertising off.

I make the dealer do this, and if they balk I ask what the monthly advertising rate is that they will be paying.

One of my pet peeves is when I see a spare tire on a Jeep that you can tell is several tire replacements old and weather rotted because it hasn't been exercised or doesn't match the tires on the Jeep currently. The only pet peeve pertaining to Jeep tires that is worse is a stock spare when the Jeep is running oversize tires/wheels. Ran across one of those on the trail in Ouray a few weeks back. I'm all for helping someone on the trail but there wasn't much I could do to fix stupid when he had a flat with 37's on the Jeep and a stock spare.

Thank you! Totally agree on the Jeep. I love your setup! This is my wife's daily, so no lift. We have owned several Jeeps over the years including a built 2014 JK. I have been to Utah and Arizona many times. My main go to in Utah was Capitol Reef and Grand Staircase, outstanding remote camping and wheeling areas and most of the tourists went elsewhere.....

Sports cars with big-brake kits that prevent the spare from fitting are a similar situation, although at least in those cases you can get a tow easier.

I un-rednecked one of my upstairs windows in the house. I pulled the sash out and did the work in the garage, so it counts!

One of my 1850s windows has has a replacement plexiglass pane since I bought the house. The other day while violently killing a mosquito, I knocked the plexiglass loose, lol.

I finally decided to go have a piece of glass cut for it and properly glaze it.

Changed the oil in the truck so the drain pan and filter are draining out into the barrel.

Newer tent used twice, ordered some better stakes (of course) before last trip a few weeks ago. Didn't check prior, found out the new ones (stakes) wouldn't go through the tents foot with the hole. Just tied out with some twine then, no problem. The "rubberized" coating is all that was preventing them from slipping through. Either open the holes on the tent up, or knock the black stuff off the stakes. Chose the latter, will probably start rusting immediately. All good, stakes work great now and no beer was filled with sparks or dust during this job.

I make my own stakes out of 10 or 12" spikes; I weld heavy washers 1": from the head.

The top head part gets painted with Chevy orange Engine paint so I can see them and not lose them on the forest floor. Less likely to miss them and trip on them as well

Loaded up for a two night solo tent camp at a state park with my best friend. Best time of the year around here. Perfect weather (80/60F, no bugs or humidity). Kiddos in school. A few RV'ers hanging around, but usually have the primitive sections all to yourself through the week.

On board air! I had an ARB portable compressor set up. The one that comes in the toolbox that I was swapping between the gladiator and the TJ. I got annoyed with that, and happen to come across anether of the portable air compressors on eBay for a pretty good price. For $45 cheaper than the standalone compressor, I get the compressor, a nice mount with a switch attached, and a 20 foot hose.

I will be doing the same thing on the gladiator when the other one arrives.

Drilled out the rivets that held the compressor inside the toolbox and mounted it right underneath the hood. I was going to reroute the switch inside the cab, but if I’m popping the hood anyway to plug in the airline it’s easy enough just hit the switch right there too so all I had to do was hook positive a negative to the battery.

At some point I may extend the lines so I have the quick disconnect mounted on the bumper or the grill. At that point I would run a switch inside the cab.

But I don’t mind popping the hood, especially so I get some air around the compressor when I’m using it.
Tested it and I got my 31” tires from 15 psi up to 25 psi in about 45 seconds.

Got rid of about 10 small packing boxes worth of stuff from the garage, digging out stuff to put in my new bookshelves. Got a bunch more boxes of old business and finance records I need to cull and sort for shredding. Feels good to pare down that pile in the garage.
Got the Suburban oil changed and some stuff lubed yesterday, and managed to successfully avoid attempting the transmission pan & filter swap today. Maybe Friday, maybe not for months. Have a bunch of other stuff that needs doing, including more furniture building starting next week.
More vehicle maintenance work tomorrow. Can't fit the Suburban all the way in the garage and close the door, so vehicle work has to be able to be done in a long day. And right now would be a very bad time to break exhaust bolts.
Made a 'Type 1' error buying a house with a sloped driveway, when I have a long history of keeping old vehicles and pulling maintenance on them at home.

I'll probably do some of them with a different color wash on each layer, as well as leave some natural. I definitely have to find a better way of aligning the layers.

I had thoughts of other objects when I bought the laser, but creating 3D-ish items, built up from multiple flat pieces, was what I got it for. The layers idea comes from me watching some whodunit on PBS, where actors were doing a play on the ocean, and the water was made up of several painted layers a few feet apart, and different parts of the action went on between the different layers of water. Like a boat sailing across in one, while a sea monster swims by in another.

Put the wiper door back on the Corvette just to gauge the position but it did not sit properly. Turns out the passenger windshield wiper is incorrect and is interfering with the wiper door.

Cleaned out the clutter inside the F150 and blew the dust out of the seats with the air hose, cleaned some of the clutter off the workbench, replaced a broken rubber pole lock on the boat. Had to drill out a stainless rivet, retrieve the bulged end of the rivet from inside the pole, and melt a 3/16" hole through the rubber for the new rivet.

After an initial misdiagnosis and a reorder of parts, I finally repaired the range in our kitchen. One burner of our glass top range quit and my first tests made it look like the issue was with the switch. New switch from Amazon arrives and I go to change it only to find that the issue now looks like the burner. No exact matches for my almost 20 year old Kenmore stove on Amazon so I get something that's close in specs (slightly higher power) and has the same dimensions. Last night the new element went in and now everything is heating like it should.

Here's the culprit, see if you can spot the issue!

I finally mounted an old swivel-base vise on top of tool chest hardwood top. I had to cut/grind three carriage bolts to size - placing bolt upside down (with bolt ends sticking out on top of table through vise-holes. The nuts were fastened and sanded down to clear way for swivel to turn 360 degrees. After sanding down and rounding off the tops they were fine sanded (80 grit to 2000) for a polished look. This is my beater I plan to help me restore an rare old REED 406R I hope to acquire soon. BTW this is my first post --- will post photos next time I participate.
