I know I’ve used T40 before but curious what you use it for a lot?
Very common on euro stuff. Typically not suspension or driveline, but lots of interior stuff and some engine uses torx on 00s onwards. Stuff like seats, steering columns, dash structures are typically t40, but they use lots of smaller torx for screws and some larger torx.

My snap on ‘grip’ roll of picks, mini screwdrivers and small torx gets a lot of work for interiors.

Haha I know what you mean. The Craftsman drawers were like that here. One of them was completely off the rails and hanging into the next row so you pulled it out and both drawers come out lol. Kobalt section has definitely downsized over the years. Still find stuff in the wrong spot. I’ve had good luck with their stuff minus the ratchets lol. Nothing was in place in either section. Totally chaos. That’s why I hate the drawers I wish they were like the parts stores and stuff and have them on racks. I do like that the Kobalt comes in a bag though cause sometimes pulling them off a hanger is totally hard lol. I don’t understand the point of the Craftsman having hangers if they aren’t going to hang up lol.
My local store seems pretty good about keeping the tool area clean. The only problem is when you try to exchange Kobalt tools. Had a ratcheting wrench that the guts fell out of and it was seven days past the return policy so they could not just return it and since they did not have it in stock that they could not return it I had to go through the manufacture. I called Kobalt And they talk to the store associate and walked him through how to process the return. It was kind of too big of a hassle for me and it took over an hour on the phone at the store and two trips. For some reason if it was a craftsman they said that they could return it with no problems. When I was younger I didn’t care but now that I’m older I don’t like to deal with all the BS that is why I am liking Tekton and Capri more and more just go in there website take a pic you will get a email notification and in a few hours a shipping confirmation. May not be Snap On quality but they get the job done and that is all that counts my book. Oh and almost forgot there’s some new tools that I picked up. The Milwaukee Socket are advertised as stubby but they are not don’t know if I will keep them or not.

For some reason I was having trouble attaching pictures I guess it doesn’t like my Snap on stuff.

I would have bought a new one and used the receipt to return the old one. I know some people will say it’s “cheating” the system but in my mind, it’s just accomplishing the same outcome without all the hassle.

I would have if they had one. The only one they had in store was the Craftsman one and they would not let me pay the difference. Ended up buying a 11/16 off the Snap On truck. That is normally what I do if I break a tool for work. Then the other tool goes in the home box.

This was a real surprise and I’m over the moon with it. I caught up with my parents this weekend and they gave me a belated birthday present:

This is a vintage Moore & Wright machinists tool box, with a 4 lever yale lock, probably early 20th century. Dad has restored it for my birthday, taking off many layers of filth and paint, but leaving the original varnish and logos, and then refinishing. It’s in very original condition, the only modification I’ve spotted is four holes in the back to wall mount it.

I’ve had a Vessel ratcheting bit driver on my wish list for some time now.
So a couple weeks ago I gave into the temptation and tossed down some money on one.
The ratchet action is really smooth. I would highly recommend one.

I have difficulty figuring out what bits fit into which vessel drivers. Will 1 inch Williams or Milwaukee bits fit into your driver? Thanks for helping me out.

I've been wavering between that and the Klein. Heard both were great tools.

These got delivered yesterday, the ridgid extractor is by far the best i ever found, plus the pipe sizes work great. Never really thought about a battery screwdriver but after replacing some outlets i thought it might save some time.

@banditbigdog those look like a nice set. I've been looking at snap ring pliers a lot lately, been thinking about just buying the Knipex but $200 seems a lot for something I don't use super often...

It's a hard pill to swallow for sure. But the cheap sets are just not worth the hassle. I don't use them often, so I settled on a basic 5 piece set from Snap On. The Knipex would probably be my go to if I wanted a larger set.

Totally agree, I had a cheap set with the interchangeable jaws from the parts house once. Never again.

Based on reviews I was looking for the Wiha set, but it looks like there's only straight-jawed versions available right now if you want a set. I'd like a couple curved-jaw options. I've read good things about Astro too, but it looks like their standard size pliers aren't available for the time being. I'll keep researching I think and see what I come up with.

I got an AWDeal that I could not pass up on a set of Wera Hex Keys. I will add it to my "Wera Go Bag".
I got two MORE USB chargeable flashlights
Salt and Pepper rechargeable grinders (why did I wait this LONG)
M12 Power thing to power my nebulizer
Cheese Curds (in memory of the fedex tractor trailer in Wisc that flipped over)

Just an FYI to all..........I ordered some of the 2022 Wera advent calendars last weekend. Looks like some retailers have them in stock. They shipped on Monday. Just trying to be "helpful", as none of us really order stuff we can do without, right?

Just made another trip to Menards. Had to pick up this 2.5 lb Halder dead blow hammer (it was on sale for 13 bucks). Also picked up a hook and pick set. We had a decent size rebate thanks to all the lumber/supplies we purchased for rebuilding the deck stairs.

While the Knipex are expensive in the US at $200+ at a place like KCTool:

You can usually get them cheaper on amazon.de:

VAT is already included so that will be removed to help offset shipping costs which is also reduced if you order in batches to combine shipping.

Or if you think that the made-in-Germany Wurth set are rebranded Knipex at a fraction of the price, you can give that a try:

I got rid of my Chinesium 2-ton Wal-Mart jack stands and bought these since they were on sale. Not 100% made in the USA but I wasn't going to spend $250 on jack stands for as little as I use them. Now to find a floor jack that won't break the bank.

The display is really fantastic, worth the price of admission just for that. The one I bought is the "middle" model in their newer meter lineup - it's identical to the Advanced meter, just doesn't have the Bluetooth/app functionality. That model was another $200 over what I bought, and I just didn't see myself using that functionality.
I went to buy the one you got but dealer only had the 596FK (I think that’s the right model number, the one with the Bluetooth that’s $700). He cut me a deal and I couldn’t wait because my old meter went out on me.

The app on your phone is really handy. Thought it was gonna be kinda dumb and useless at first but I’ve used it a lot more than I thought.

Quick release locking grease couplers. I'm too cheap to buy the Lock-n-Lube ones, way too expensive for me especially cause I want 3 of them. I don't understand why theirs cost so much, some are even more expensive. I just have cheap HF grease guns which work fine for me as they are only used 2-3 times a year.

I've tried other inexpensive ones from Amazon, all have the stamped steel jaws like the Lock-n-Lube. Some reviews say the jaws tend to break, not sure if that's true for the Lock-n-Lube. Main thing is the ones I bought were too fat & too short to reach my driveshaft yokes.

Saw this new style with machined jaws. Seems to be a new style/product, none had any reviews yet. Ordered one to try & it fits for all my needs. So far so good, no leaks, locks on well, & easy to disconnect. So I ordered 2 more, we'll see how long they last. Got them for $13ea after 20% coupon. Can get them on aliexpress for less than $10 but I bought from Amazon in case I needed to return. They have ones with 2 levers also.
20220912_182956.jpg20220912_183052.jpg

Magnetic pick up wand. Ordered when price dropped down to $23 two months ago. They finally came back in stock & the current price is still pretty good. I bought a different name brand one before for double the price. Didn't like the quality & it was made in India which I didn't expect. This one is made in China but is much nicer IMO. USA made ones cost too much.

Manards’ clearance has been awesome this month. Irwin/NWS linesman for $13. Couple Halder hammers for $28 total, and a masterforce/Wilde pry bar set for $25.

I just checked, the one I bought is sold out now. There were 4 left after I bought my additional two.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8CJ1G14/?tag=atomicindus08-20

This is the only other listing I could find for the single lever that is currently in stock at Amazon but it's much more expensive. All the others are 3rd party shipped from China I assume.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B4NGKQW9/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here's a listing for the double lever one. I'm assuming they're pretty much all the same, just different generic brand names. The double lever is supposed to be less effort to use. I went with the single lever cause I was worried about clearance issues for greasing my suspension.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QFNCY33/?tag=atomicindus08-20

If you search "grease gun coupler" on Amazon they will pop up. Keep in mind these are inexpensive made in China but for the price I'm happy with them & they've been working well for me so far.
EDIT: Oh BTW, the ones with the black lever is the same as those without. The black is just a thin vinyl cover. If you remove the cover it's the same as those without it & still has the jimping on the lever. I'll probably remove my covers or replace them with thicker vinyl caps, I have the perfect size for them.

Here's the Evolution MagWand.
