Did initial burn off with new BBQ/Smoker . It was just outside the garage and I putzed around inside while having a beer so it counts. Damn it charcoal burning smells so good.

Finished the 850 Fiat, and took her for the first test drive. She has been on the lift for roughly 7 years.

She went back on the lift again, a few other little things need done.

Good idea! 👍😁 I will have to come up with some type of drain, but first I need to fabricate the platform it is going to reside on. One more upright for my pallet rack would make it an easy solution. The tricky part is finding one locally for sale.
FYI, there's a guy over in Crestline that advertises on CL every now and then. He has some different sizes and types of it. Granted, more than likely, it'll need paint.

Replaced temperature control switch behind the knob on 20 year old Tappan electric range. Really the first repair other than a couple top heating elements. The back is part digital, with still old style knobs for the burners. Put on simmer the last few times and would glow cherry red out of the blue off and on. Of course the most used front left 8" burner. $20 part, 10 minutes to replace. Cleaning up behind and below after pulling out is the worst part. Luckily no mouse nests. Getting cooler here now, and with the farmers working the fields, won't be long before they start to invade the house.

Break from the garage.
Went to Creede, Co to see the colors and have lunch. Tourists largely gone. Nice little community, well cared for. Couple friendly Texans. Picked up a couple rod reel combos at WM in Pagosa for $5.00 ea. Xmas gifts for friends kids.
Staged all my tools and materials when we got back for roof repair tomorrow. Always something to look forward to.

HUGE project today...
Removed the M6 allen bolt/nut.

IMG_20220924_113952849.jpg

Swapped the M6 allen for an M6 screw & installed it in the opposite direction so now I just have that black screw head in the storage area. Much tidier :)

Next project will be to tidy up that jagged hole upper left..

(Edit: which I just did with a step drill)

BP, Be sure you add a good anti flex/twist member to the front of the frame, I converted an older twin I beam similarly, and it busted the frame near the steering box. We repaired it adn added the bracing; but forewarned...

Not your first rodeo, is it? Because I already have a small crack by the steering box that needs repaired. If I hadn't spent the time to clean up and paint the frame, I never would have seen it.

Thanks

First made a dump run. I had been saving carpet for a guy who was going to use it in his kennels for his dogs. He got sick, carpet got rained on a few times, got moldy and smelly. So I just went ahead and dumped it.

Brought back a decent trailer from the dump though. Used to be a dump trailer it looks like. Dunno what I’ll do with it. Maybe a solid wood floor and some sides. That’s a “later” project.

Then, since I’m going to be babysitting my nephews tomorrow, and they’ll want something to do, I figured I’d do the hard stuff today. Got the trans yanked. The engine support bar works great. No jack or stands underneath to be in the way!

Tomorrow, we’ll pressure wash the sub frame and get all the parts and pieces cleaned up. I’ll install the used transmission some time during the week lol

Not by a long shot

59 F100 stepside (new) frame up conversion due to a BB transplant busting the frame, converted to a SB adn 4WD

The 66 twin I beam conversion I mentioned

A 53 M37 weapons carrier I ripped the body, flat head and crashbox ****** out/off of, and transplanted a 289, adapted Scout 4 speed and Xfer into, (so 2 xfers...)and the cab off a 60's Econoline PU cab onto (tilt cab over the wheels...)

Plus coaching innumerable lifts for others. (I'm the suspension trouble shooter. )

Finally after dealing with it for 5 years, I found stabilizer links that worked on my Massey Ferguson Row Crop 150. Nothing is more irritating than pulling a scraper or bush hog and having the 3 point walk around with a mind of its own. The problem I was having on finding one for this tractor, is the Row Crop version has extra large diameter rear tires, which also means the 3 point arms are extended.

Finally after buying two different sets, I was able to make one working set.

I also had to straighten out the mounting bracket for the short chains that prevent the arms from opening too far. They were never mounted right and were getting bent and causing the chains to bind.
Here she is when I brought her home 5 years ago.

And here is the new stabilizer setup.

I have owned two Fiat’s. I learned that the letters FIAT stand for Fixing It’s is A Trick.

Hoping I’m not banned from baby sitting my nephews.

First had them race the mowers to see which is faster.

Then we made weapons of destruction. Commander death (the battle axe) and stabby mcpokerson (wood with sharp objects protruding out either side).

Then somehow managed to get the “new” trans up into the car.

Yeah… LMAO.

Cleaned out a bunch of junk to take to the scrap yard.

3 350ci blocks, a complete but cracked 4.3 v6, and an old 2.5 iron duke were loaded into the truck.

Saved one 350 that has some machine work done to it and an OMC 307. My 1.9 TDI will join them in the corner after it gets pulled.
