no no no... I'm just fishing for any information to try to make that list more complete.
something tells me that unit may share design features with another maker's, but I cannot recall a name at the moment.

Bless me, father, for I have sinned, my last confession was... 22 days ago! Didn't really notice just how busy I've been with other stuff. (And, my cash was low. Low today, too. Almost didn't go for that reason. Had a ten, a five, and three ones and I grabbed a pocketful of quarters and dimes on the way out the door.) Today's trip (Lugz 2022_48) did not disappoint, though. Details later. This is an on-site (still in the PL) SITREP.

Yes, Outlaw said that earlier. I have since used them to cut off the excess (installation tab) rubber part for a Graco air-powered grease pump. They snipped the 5/16" diameter extension off cleanly and easily. I believe that they will get used quite often.
I missed Outlaw's reply--should've known he'd have been johnny on the spot with an answer.

I was passing by the local ReStore again today and stopped in to check the inventory. I rescued this lonely Indestro Super socket from the catchall bin of loose imported junk sockets. Set me back a while dollar.

Indestro Super 1240, 1/2" drive, 1-1/4" 12-pt

If anyone needs it to fill a hole on a set, drop me a PM.

 It is funny, but not uncommon. I've seen Bonney and other OEM's do the same. Shipping/pricing. And we've seen worse! Remember the Coes wrenches that hardware store was selling by "one-twelfth of a dozen"? No, not one. One-twelfth of a dozen. :)

I bought that explicitly and exclusively for the unusual name and logo.

Hit 4 sales today, 3 planned with the 4th being a TOO. 1st stop netted 1/4" ratchets from Snap On,Cornwell,Craftsman, a very old Cornwell 3/8" ratchet,Cornwell Breaker bar sockets from Snap On and Cornwell and 2 Snap on extensions. 2nd sale netted the Craftsman 1/4" T handle,1/2" T handle from Williams,Sockets from None Better,Craftsman and Bonney, blade I hope fits a 4" combo head, paint can opener and C'man DOE. 3rd sale netted the set of angle wrenches from the Vanadium Tool Company,a SnapOn angle wrench and a 1" Bonney socket and the Proto puller and 2 sets of arms, after cashing out, revisit before leaving,I didn't notice until I was cashed out and putting in the car that the arms were different lengths, so I dug deeper and found the matches. Also gained the set of angle wrenches from the Vanadium Tool Company,a SnapOn angle wrench and a 1" Bonney socket. 4th stop TOO netted a brand new Armstrong 1/4" ratchet for $1. I believe at one time there were many, many tools but this was found in a bedroom of a very poorly advertised sale. I don't know if any tools were ever for sale or not, garage had remnants of a mechanic but other than a box of NOS brake shoes/pads, there were no signs of tools present. Maybe pulled by family/ or a second later sale.

A few estate sales popped up on Craigslist so we checked out a couple In Oakland. The first sale was put on by a estate sale company that I was familiar with and they generally have fair prices.

Nice find. I have a few, Don. I think they were supposed to be like adjustable flare wrenches, for hydraulic lines (EDIT: B-29 conduit, to be more precise), and later HVAC, reefer etc. work, akin but a different design to the later snap-over types. But yeah, they're, er, different, the way all three pieces rock.

I hit an estate sale on the way home. Nothing too fancy. A pretty nice 228E. I probably wouldn’t have gotten it but it came with the original box in terrible shape but it had the parts safe which I have never seen in person, a nice match safe and all the original paperwork. With all those extras, that's a great score Mr. W! 3 gennys (will fit the 220's as well) the Safe, and the match case! - My match cases are all Marbles. or no-name - anything in the fine print for that one?

I see spare flints, but no sparker?

Outlaw,

It has the sparker on the back side. The bale is clocked about 90 degrees off. The globe is nice but there is a lot of light rust in the combustion chamber. The font cap and valve are stuck pretty good. I probably will try to get it cleaned up but not too much work other than that.

Are the "big Hand cutters" for babbits?
Ben looks great in his new shades.
Like the hand vise, I could use something like that.

Nice scores alinc100, especially like the Vanadium angle wrenches which I don't think I have ever seen in the wild around my area. Probably not an easy find for sure. (y)

Yup, that's a You ****-worthy find right there. I never knew those parts safes existed (and are older than me)!

I have a similar match case, bought in the 80s (I believe it's BSA-branded, don't know the OEM).

Here’s my haul from a poorly advertised estate sale hit on the way home from a haircut yesterday, in a neighborhood that is usually tool poor. Immediate right turn into the garage, and goodness, there is a table saw with a Vega fence in plain view, a Kennedy red stack at a mere $800 combined, and a WW bench. Start poking through the scattered unorganized mess of someone dumping all the tool box, workbench and other drawers onto the workbench. Found some Japanese chisels at $4 each, and two moulding planes at $5 each, so real mixed bag pricing. Very quickly I found a piece fir a Record plane, so obviously spent a fair amount of time looking for the plane to no avail. I also found a Japanese plane blade, but no plane. Guess family swooped in first. As it was day one, hour two, not dealing on prices, but didn’t do awful on the aggregate.

PXL_20221021_235125260-X3.jpg

Top left is apparently a Nicol complex molding plane, by an obscure maker from Roxton Pond, Quebec, Canada. Still more digging to do to decipher the shape. Next is an Ohio Tools "#72 round plane in size 7, cutting a 1” wide section of a 2” diameter circle". Edit:Or maybe not, more like a reeding shape, as pfaustus notes below. Then next up another pair of Felco Swiss made cutters, Starrett 6” dividers that I didn’t notice the fouled up threads on in the poor light. The little metal block is the Bull Nose for a Record #311 rabbet plane, an often misplaced component, which triggered the search, and the ~60mm Japanese plane blade someone missed. Finally an oddball vintage looking clamp, shaped like a rail bender, small SS scissors, and a small US made SS hemostat.

That doesn't look like a round, unless it has been heavily reworked by one of its owners for a particular purpose. Rounds are typically a smaller fraction of a circle than 180 degrees. I want to say 1/3. That looks like some kind of architectural reeding. If the circle was smaller, I might hope it was half a set of table planes. The internet archive has an Ohio Tools catalog with the profile of hollows and rounds. https://archive.org/details/ohiotoolcocatalogpgs3142/page/n5/mode/2up

I was surprised too. I had written a rebuttal to your opinion, then wisely went and looked harder at the plane, and others, before making a fool of myself.

A round is normally 1/6 of a circle. Only the bottom of that bow/bead looking thing should be sharpened. This one is stamped 72 & 7 in different spots in the tail. So I drank the Kool-Aid and said round.

PXL_20221022_162655142-X2.jpg

My other set of Sandusky H &R has the more traditional shape, where the body tapers down to the cutting edge, vs the step this one has. The Ohio cutter is sharpened closer to 1/2 way. I'm thinking this was factory made tho, as I hauled out a different Ohio round (no pic), and the body is much more like the Sandusky on the left. Usually they are stamped "special" or something .

They say the factories would take special orders. The close up looks like it might have been a big round rabbited and reshaped for a specific grove someone wanted.

Those Clauss shears are beasts, if you can hold the thing in the jaws, it’ll probably cut it. We keep a pair on the kitchen windowsill, cuts flower stems, thin bundling wire, etc. could work in the garage tool, but I have many more options down there.

Oh I know. I have a couple pairs just like them.

I just cannot say no to a pair of USA scissors or shears for a dollar… even though I already have plenty… more than plenty…

I did not need the Snap-on DOE either… but you know how it is.
