    Store Dehumidifier in Barn

Thank you for all of the comments. The mfg said to take it in the house at night, but it is a 70 pint and probably weighs 50 pounds. I think I'll take a chance and leave it in the barn, drain it good after each use and wrap it in a couple of quilts if temp is supposed to go below freezing...

    Store Dehumidifier in Barn

I live in southern Michigan and this time of year as the temps change alot I get quite a bit of condensation in my unheated pole barn. The last couple of years I have put a dehumidifier in the barn and run it when the temps are over 45 degrees. That works well in keeping the condensation in...

Correct Thermostat for pole barn heater

I think the thermostat that went bad yesterday is mechanical and it goes down to 55, then if I move the stting indicator to the left further until it clicks it shuts it off completely. I jumpered the 2 wires and the furnace came on and then shut off when it reached the correct setting. Later...

Correct Thermostat for pole barn heater

I have a Sterling overheat natural gas heater in my pole barn. I have gone thru a couple of thermostats in the last couple of years. I'm thinking the ones that I am using don't like the cold temps. Down to 4 degrees F last night. I don't heat the barn all of the time, only when I'm using it...

    Reddi Heater Won't Start Now

I can see a spark with the top case off. I have tried to run it with the fuel line in a jar of fresh kerosine.

    Reddi Heater Won't Start Now

It's about 25 degrees right now. The heater worked just minutes before. It was just burping a little so I thought I should probably do some maintenance. Filters, plugs and whatever else the manual suggested. I just pulled the filter and lower fuel hose out, cleaned it with kerosine, blew...

    Reddi Heater Won't Start Now

I have a R155D Reddi Heater that I use quite a bit to heat up my pole barn quickly and then turn on the natural gas furnace. It has been sputtering just a little bit the last couple of days so I thought I would check the fuel filter. I pulled it out, cleaned it and put it back in. Now it...

    Wet Floor In the Spring

I think mine has sweated sometime in the summer as well. I'm about 300 miles south of you. I know at times I have taken a 36" squeegee to get the water out of the barn. Anything made out of metal really gets wet. I think the problem is solved somewhat now.

    Wet Floor In the Spring

Well fortunately I think the problem is resolved with the fan primarily and the dehumidifier.

    Wet Floor In the Spring

Damp Floor in the spring I have a 26 x 32 metal pole barn with about 6" of insulation in the ceiling as well as 1" foam panels for the ceiling. Only have about 2" of insultation in the sidewalls. My problem is in the spring when the first few day of warmer weather come the floor get very damp...

    Damp Floor in the spring

Early spring update. I installed about a 48" ceiling fan and have it run most of the time when it gets above freezing. I also have one small window open. About a month ago I bought a 70 pint dehumidifier and run that when the temperature is above 45 degrees and so far I have not had any...

    Damp Floor in the spring

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. I think I will try and find a ceiling fan and a dehumidifier. My ceiling is only 8 feet high and one of those large fans require more height but if I can get a 4 or 5 foot dia fan I think that should work. I can predict a little in advance when...

    Damp Floor in the spring

Amorpoxy, do you mean a wall fan blowing to the outside or just moving the air around on the inside? I will try anything. I have the same problem with condensation in my attached garage but to a lesser degree. I do put a fan on the floor sometimes after the floor is already wet to try and dry...
