Thanks for all the replies! Most of the sockets I have now are older US made Craftsman. I will try the paint marking on them and see how that works. I was thinking after I wrote the original post that someone with a laser engraver should offer a service to engrave the sizes onto older sockets...
My eyes are getting old and I have a really hard time reading the small size markings on sockets, especially if they are chrome. I really like the laser engraved sockets with the large, easy to read letting. The problem is I can't seem to find any that are made in the United States. It looks...
Thanks for the reply. I remove the adjustable deflectors and vacuum and blow out the area that the heat exchanger tubes are in every year. I did that at the beginning of this heating season.
I have a 60k btu propane Hot Dawg heater in my garage. The heater is at least 10 years old and has never really given me any problems. I have noticed that it is using more propane lately, but nothing has changed with the garage and it hasn't been excessively cold outside. I know that I don't...
It is a older oil boiler that feeds 1 zone of baseboard heat for the entire house. It also has a built in heat exchanger that provides the hot water for the house.
Whichever direction I go, I know I will need a mixing valve so the water going into the floor is only 90-100 degrees.
Thanks for the reply! The reason I wanted to use a indirect tank is because I have well water and it's not the best. I figured if I isolated the garage floor from the boiler I could use distilled water or some type of purified water in that side of the system to keep the contaminates out. Maybe...
After many years of having the tubing in my floor not doing anything, this year I would really like to get the floor heat up and running in my attached garage. What I think I want to do is put a separate zone off of the oil boiler in the basement of my house and run that to a indirect water...
I have a MBW GP3550 plate compactor with a Honda GX160 5.5 horsepower engine in excellent used condition. I purchased this new to use while building my garage addition, it has very low hours and was never used commercially. I have all the original manuals. These cost $2500 plus tax new. Must be...
I was not happy with how the sheetrock lift worked for the walls, so I modified the cradle to fit on a cherry picker and used that to do the walls. It worked great!
I hate bothering people for help, so I found a way to sheetrock my garage ceiling and walls 100% by myself. The ceiling is 4'x12'x5/8" fire rated drywall, and the walls are 54"x12'x5/8" fire rated. I bought a sheetrock lift off Craigslist with an extension to reach the 12' ceiling. I made a...
Would it be possible to take 2 generators that had the ability to be paralleled together and make some type of device that instead of making them 100% in sync with each other they could be exactly opposite each other? Isn't 240 volts just 2 120 volt hot leads that are synced exactly opposite? If...
The 2 above look like an almost exact replacement. Can I ask how you guys found that other part number? I went through every capacitor cross reference site I could find, and none of them came up with any cross for the numbers on my original capacitor. Thanks everyone for all the help!
