Installing two TCL 36k heat pump mini splits in my central OK 40x50x14 red iron shop. R454B units, need to pull vacuum, need adapter...

Okay, this is good stuff. I don't have nitrogen so I looked to see if 75/25 welding gas would work, it doesn't. Pure argon would, but its a heavier gas (I have a TIG bottle with 100% argon). I got a deal on the units through a local HVAC guy who hooked me up at the supplier, my problem is...

    Attic temperatures

Many years ago, my A-coil would freeze up. There were three speed taps on the fan motor from factory it was set to low, my hvac guy moved to medium. Updraft system, duct in attic, he said 85*F-90*F switch the fan from Auto to On to gain some cooling off the stiil cool coil while keeping air...

Installing two TCL 36k heat pump mini splits in my central OK 40x50x14 red iron shop. R454B units, need to pull vacuum, need adapter...

Problem with those is the reverse thread. Every hose I have is RH thread as well as the vacuum pump connections and the vacuum port connections on the condensing unit. I'm hoping they used a 410A valveset. Looking at another post where a guy put in Pioneer a mini split, I ordered a pair (only...

    Garage Mini Split Installation Debrief

What is that adapter you're using? And what gauge set? On my TCL (looks exactly like yours) its right handed thread. All the adapters I see are rh on one end and lh on the other for hooking up to a bottle of R454B which has LH threads as I understand.

They were $2250/ea. I doubt I do any home hvac work. My son-in-law bought a set of R1234yf gauges, I wonder if they're compatible. I hate to spend a couple hundred on something I'll use once (or twice, for each unit).

I have a yellow jacket gauge set for R12/R22/R502 and a HF Pittsburgh set for R134A/R407C/R404A. I have an OLD Robinair model 15021 belt driven vacuum pump with an adapter that allows me to hook up my HF set to it. I just need to adapter from a blue hose to the vacuum port on the unit. Most I...

    New to me workshop.

So 2" of closed cell. My 40x50x14 w/ 2:12 pitch was I think 4500‐4600 sq/ft and was between $11-$12K. About $2.60/ft, central Oklahoma, its hot right now, it gets cold...

Leveling my shop porch slab in the future (8'x25' area), is flowable fill a good idea? (I'll be enclosing it) ((yes, I tend to make my life harder..))

Now I don't have to do this, but its an epiphany that came to me this weekend. I think the porch is 1/8"-1/4" per foot (I'll check it tomorrow night), so somewhere between 1"-2" of fall. The porch slab is 4" thick, but the perimeter footer is overkill, 22x22 same as the shop. (psst, skip the...

    Shower in shop.

I'm planning one on my shop porch (roughed in shower drain and toilet flange), its a 8'x50' porch and I had always planned on enclosing that half of it. I too plan on a Liberty type lift station with a grinder pump to my septic tank. I plan on putting a 2" trap seal insert in my shower drain...

New shop behind house in central OK, need power... (its a long post, like many of mine are...)

I'll have to take pics of the panel tomorrow evening (if I get to it). Ground rod at the base of this meter, I have a ground rod for shop that will go in outside the building at the base of the new meter can as well as a multi strand ground wire attached to the foundation rebar coming up thru...

New shop behind house in central OK, need power... (its a long post, like many of mine are...)

Can the meter can go on my shop? I realize the POCO sets the standards. I don't have enough room on my house to preset the new meter base. On the shop will be a shorter run for them anyway. I can have the new base set with my new shop panel wired, new wire run underground to 200a disconnect on...

New shop behind house in central OK, need power... (its a long post, like many of mine are...)

Yes, they will bury a new line. And I don't have to buy the 320a meter base, I go to the local supply house (Locke Supply) and they take down my address and give me the base (has the OG&E sticker on it). I will have to come up with a 200a disconnect to put under the new base so I don't have...

New shop behind house in central OK, need power... (its a long post, like many of mine are...)

So an OG&E guy came to my house yesterday and called me. He said he's putting in a work order to set a new pole in the utility easement behind my house (where there's 3 phase if I wanted it) with a new can and running 350 underground to my meter base and they will abandon the wire coming from in...

New shop behind house in central OK, need power... (its a long post, like many of mine are...)

I did, but calling months ago while considering 3 phase, they wanted to know what equipment I'd put into the building. I understand that ultimately, they will make the decision. I'm just trying to prepare myself for when they come out.

I knew that too, just trying to prepare myself in case they want me to pay for the upgraded can. A second service would most likely come from another pole.
