third gen mechanic, I've got an AS degree in Automotive Tech, although never employed as one. I was an assembly mechanic at Boeing on the 747, 737 and 777, a great job.
Then as a modification mechanic on the P-8 (Navy sub hunter/bomber). Retired a few years ago. Build and remodel my own houses. Project to repower '50 Dodge pickup with 4BT Cummins to commence once I've reroofed my rental. Long list of future physically demanding projects should keep me from becoming a couch tater.
