LM gave me two 889LM controllers for free and that fixed the problem for me. Hopefully the 889LM controllers don't have the same failure mode.

I have two 8500 garage door openers I installed at the same time in 2015. Both have 888LM controllers with a build date of 3/15. One of them has failed where the yellow and red lights flash quickly or not at all, and the door is randomly opening and closing. This is an incredibly bad failure...
