In case anyone else searches, I bought a set of replacement pads for my maxjax from pads4lifts.com. They appear to be higher quality than what originally came with the lift, fitment is great, and shipping was fast.
I picked up the bench the afternoon and threw it together tonight.
My Initial impressions are that it's decent for $265, but i'd be disappointed if i spent more.
Pro's:
It's feels solid and sturdy, levels easy.
looks good.
Cons:
corners are not finished. I may tig them up as previously...
I saw that too.. I'll post pics when i pick mine up in a couple days.
If the corners are unfinished i plan to tig them up.
Jagged seems like an extreme word, but if the bench ***** i'll definitely return it.
This seems like a pretty good value.
I'd prefer the 8' model, but it's hard to argue with the price.

A couple more thoughts:
1) the legs with casters arent overly wide. I never used the jack before cutting it down, but i can see it not being as stable if not shortened and with a heavy load on it.. i've had no issues. just an observation.
2) the flange that the bottle jack mounts to was not...
I'll have to measure the actual lifting range, but at it's lowest it's now 34.25".
Northern tool's site says it's range is around 19 inches so probably somewhere just over 53" fully extended.
it is SLOW to raise. i will say that.. i'd guess 1cm per pump.. i'll probably fab up some sort of foot...
whenever i wear it out or break it? LOL
a T56 is around 125lbs.
I also removed the entire rear subframe, rear end, suspension, brakes, etc with it at once. it works great. it has adjustments to tilt left to right and forward and backards.
I've been deep into my car project for the last 6 weeks. sorry guys.
I cut the end of the square post off where the bottle jack mounts. The cut is where I'm pointing. Basically just making the post only 2-3 inches tall.
I then drilled three new holes into the short section of the post i cut...
Here's the online menu manual to show how it all fits together:

The bottle jack bolts to the post (#9 in the manual).
I cut all but 2.5" off the post and drilled three new holes through it to remount the legs.
I ended up needing...
