    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

The FEA shows the Aluminum parts are well below yield stress. The Steel Rotary lift arm actually has higher stress to yield ratio (lower safety factor) than the Aluminum parts when under load. This means the lift arm would fail well before the aluminum adapter.

These adapters were made for a roraty SPOA 10. According to the FEA, the lift arms have a lower safety factor than the adapters, but still have a very reasonable safety factor for a reduced load rating of 6k pounds. Joe

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

I went forward with the project. I had a friend of a friend locally machine the arms and pins, and sent the plates out to be laser cut. I am still waiting on the plates, but will post pictures of the assembly when they come in. The local shop may be interested in making additional sets if...

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

I had a version with multiple arm attachement holes - these plates would allow 3 arm positions - but look a little like Swiss cheese. Part of me would also like to be able to pick up a garden tractor with them. Waiting to see FEA results. Liability is a real issue - probably better to keep it...

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

Xometry quoted $2,800 for 4 adapters (one lift set) I upped the quote to 4 lift sets and the price dropped to $1800 per lift set. I am still tweaking the design, but will be ordering at least one set for my personal Rotary lift. If anyone has any design improvement ideas or wants to order a...

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

Joing the two sides would be stronger, but would make getting a vehicle on the hoist a pain. I would have to have the arms set at the correct wheelbase before driving onto them vs sliding them to the wheel after the car is in-between the posts. I attached a screenshot of my latest CAD. The...

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

I have made a CAD model. Does anyone have some of the basic dimensions, like how far apart the two arms are?

What kind of hoist do you have? I am designing a set for my Rotary, and getting them quoted. Prices may go down if I quoted more sets. Right now the first quotes are around $3k

    Wheel-Engaging Adaptors for Car Lift

I know this is an ancient thread. I would like to buy or build a set of these for my lift. I have not found anyone making these - Is there a small shop that took on the manufacturing of them? If not, does anyone have CAD they would be willing share? Thanks, -Joe

I need help. I have to get my tools appraised due to a divorce and I cant find anyone that will do it?

I suggest you talk to your soon to be Ex directly and come up with a value you both agree on. (Not just for tools, but the entire estate) My ex and I split everything up ourselves in a manner we felt was fair. We then brought that to a lawyer to right up and make legal like. When it came to...

    Wifi Low temp thermostat

I am using an electric heater, so the condensate is a non issue for this application. I think the Nest in "off" mode with a safety temp of 35F is the ticket. I think it does everything I want, just a little odd that I have to turn it "off", but I can deal with that. What is the point of a...

JLV - Do you think this nest would have the 35degree when off setting? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HRPDBFF/?tag=atomicindus08-20

    Wifi Low temp thermostat

The nest set to off might be a great solution. When the nest is set to off can you still read live temperatures in the app? I also found this one which at least one previous GJ post someone mentioned they thought it could go down to 35, but it was never confirmed. The reviews are pretty rough...
