How did you secure the wood sections to your basement wall?
You mentioned that you glued the insulation. Do you glue the wood section too? Or did you screw them to the floor and ceiling?

As others said, the 7/16 thread is an odd ball. Maybe a metric thread could get the OD that you want.

If you have any kids... then having a clean, organized garage is an extra challenge. Kids accumulate way too much stuff that "dad" has to keep organized.
You can use the external hex on the back side of a sparkplug socket. Just put an extension through the "socket side" and attach to your ratchet.
Here is an example in the attached picture.
You could tether the scrap pieces with a thin gauge wire. They can hang freely when the cart is stationary. Then, when you jack it up in mobile mode, they can be quickly put in place. That way, you don't have to go looking for them.
This Euro site has this type of speaker screw. I just did a quick search but there are probably other sites like this.
