Raise garage height, what kind of beam is this?

What if you removed one rafter tie, moved it closer to the wall, tied that rafter into the center rafter and added a short piece from the opposing wall to the piece you used to tie into the center rafter. You would have a large pocket where the top car can fit through on one side of the garage.

New Siding - House and Garage

I hear you. Custom meaning that the houses in the neighborhood have different architectural designs and use a variety of exterior products. On my street, there's asphalt, cedar shake and slate tile roofs. Lot sizes are not uniform. This is opposite to where I grew up in a suburban tract...

New Siding - House and Garage

What's the latest opinions on LP Smartside siding? I've got 30yr old Cedar Lap siding on the house and garage. The south side has been beaten up by the sun and the mitered outside corners aren't the best. Not a of care was given to it, it's first 22 years. I'm planning to reside the house...

    Carport into a garage

Whatever you do, post up the progress. You have an interesting build. One thing I see is if you grade down you'll likely have to support those split face columns so your drive through between the columns will become narrower. Referencing the truck and the pic it looks like you would have...

    Brake Fluid Flush.

Track car, flush and replace with SRF once a year. Bleed in between. I use a Power Bleeder. Daily driver, haven't flushed it, but the car is telling me to, 2 yrs old. I'll flush it with reg fluid when I get around to it. Probably in the spring when I do the annual oil change and it warms...

How to defeat ice damming and snow build up on roof.

I'm thinking of either: 1.) Add heat cables 2.) Have a buddy remove the shingles and copper roof the entire roof area and up the sides maybe 6in. The though is that the snow would melt faster on copper. Thoughts? This area doesn't get a lot of sun.

Need opinions on new garage roof

    Questions about paint

I thought about semi-gloss on the bottom for protection. Then I figured anything that I would do to the wall that would require protection, paint isn't going to protect it.

    Storage System or Floors

More like 6in off the ground for the base cabinets and storage lockers. I'm anticipating when I grind the concrete, those parts can be done by hand similar to the edges.
