    Chop saw blade?

There's a post on the HAMB (another great Atomic Industry site) about it--here's the link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158804&highlight=cut+off+wheels Tucker

    Weld prep in tight areas?

I picked up a grinding stone and went to town. Got it clean and all welded up. All I have to do is finish welding the plate the CO2 tank will rest on, and I'm done. I would post a pic, but form is getting whupped badly by function! It's ugly, it's crooked looking but it's level and stable...

    Weld prep in tight areas?

It's the junction of the table top frame and the leg. The leg popped loose on it. It's made out of 1/8" angle iron. I'll swing by the store and see what they have. It sounds like doing it by hand with a file is not a good option... Thanks Tucker

    Weld prep in tight areas?

What dremel bit would I use? I've never been impressed with the grinding stones I've used--maybe I'm buying the wrong ones or looking for too fast of a result? Tucker

    Weld prep in tight areas?

I'm in a fix. I'm trying to repair a bad weld that I totally botched up on the underside of my welding cart. I can't get my grinder in to grind off the contaminated surface. What can I use to clean the metal? I was thinking of a degreasing cleaner on a rag, and then work it with either a...

    What to use?

I second the OSB. That's what they use at the construction sites I've seen. Tucker

    Grinder stand--how to secure?

I could understand if you didn't know what a snow shovel was, but a rake??? I think I will go for the wheel, loaded with cement. Dang, I want my own place. 2 more years of saving and maybe I can! (If I don't blow it all on cars and tools, of course!) Thanks for the help, fellas! Tucker

    Grinder stand--how to secure?

No fancy pants floors here. Just good old cement that when poured, the neighborhood kids wrote obscene messages in! Funny, it looks like my handwriting back in the day...lol Thanks everyone. One wheel coming up. Tucker

    Grinder stand--how to secure?

And the wheel won't "walk"? That's my main concern--stability. Thanks Tucker

    Grinder stand--how to secure?

My dilemma is this: I am setting up a bench grinder on a pedestal-type stand, and I don't want to bolt it to the garage floor (I'm in a rental house). Does anyone have recommendations of what to attach to the bottom to secure it? I was thinking a big piece of MDF--that's heavy stuff, no...

    Garage planning...need advice

IMHO I would definitely put in more lighting. First off, more general lighting. Secondly, you'll want task lighting over your bench. I started with 2 4' fixtures in a 2 car garage, and I've had to add 3 more just to get it from seeming dim. Tucker

Should I put 220v in a rental house?

Thanks guys! I'm going to talk to one of the electricians we have on our Facilities staff at the school I work for, see what they recommend. I think I'll either go with a 110v compressor or the extension cord idea--seems less of a hassle those ways. Tucker

Should I put 220v in a rental house?

These are all excellent answers, thanks. I would be worried, if I used an extension cord, about voltage drop. Am I crying wolf? I did buy a 110v welder, to avoid this situation, and I really haven't looked at the 110v compressors. Every compressor I've seen that has seemed "big enough" has...

Should I put 220v in a rental house?

bmwpower--I'll definitely get the landlord's okay before I do it. She is pretty laid back though. She doesn't put money into the property but doesn't mind if I do!. Idasho--nothing's in the garage--it's all in the basement, along with the box. The box is completely filled, so I'd be getting a...

Should I put 220v in a rental house?

I am living in a rental house, for the next year & a half. Then I will be moving, probably to another rental house. All the air compressors I look at, that meet my criteria, are 220v. Do you think it's worth it to put 220v in my garage? My main box is filled, so I'd have to get a larger one...
