    Attached garage fire, ugh

Holy cow. @Poe34! I’m so sorry to read about your fire. Scary, and heartbreaking. Any solvent-containing rags at my place go outside away from any structure in a heavy old galvanized 30-gallon(ish) pail until they’re completely dry. (I spent my life in the chemical industry working in...

    Torque wrench storage settings

The instructions for my 40+ yo Craftsman Digitork wrench say to back off the wrench to the lowest setting and leave it for four hours before using if one has inadvertently left it under tension.

Where Can I Get These Electrical Connectors?

I get most of my connectors -- TE Connectivity whenever I can -- from DigiKey. With the right connector and...

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

An upgrade to my simple single-filter setup is a cubic four-filter Corsi-Rosenthal box. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsi%E2%80%93Rosenthal_Box (Image from the Wikipedia article)

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

I have labels on the fans too, noting which direction is the blade rotation and airflow.

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

I've also thought about pop-riveting some bent-aluminium-sheet "slides" on the sides of the fans so filters can be easily slipped in and out.

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

Just the opposite! Air gets pulled through the filter, so the stuff being filtered out doesn't get sucked through the motor and blades first.

Is it feasible to use a dust filter in my garage?

Fershure! I run 20”x20” MERV14 air filters taped to the inlet side of the grille on common box fans in my two 2-car garages and my shop. Near HEPA class performance. They work great here in dusty rural northern New Mexico, where the outside always wants to be inside. I usually have them on...

A friend had some magnets shift inside his, too. And once some of those strong magnets stack like checkers inside rhe sewn mat, they ain’t being repositioned back where they were. He was planning to warranty his. I’ll have to check if he’s done gotten a replacement.
