I have CHI’s also that are covered with wood on the exterior. I do have insulated glass windows in them. Radiant heat, and well weatherstripped. I feel they do a good job at heat loss.

Any info on the matching top chest? I know it just went off, but was looking to pick one up this January.

If it were me, I would extend the patio and mortar it all down. I have a couple thousand feet of Bluestone dry laid over compacted TB, with polymeric joints. I wish it was all set over concrete like I wanted to do. Granted, I'm in the Midwest, with freeze and thaw cycles, but the polymeric sand...

I was just wondering, did you wall mount the larger 48" cabinets too? Personally, I wouldn't have a problem bolting angle iron to the wall, and then setting the cabinets on top and attaching to the wall studs. But obviously, build quality would be important with that type of installation.

I believe it has several advantages, harder, faster curing and UV resistant. But I'm just a lurker, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

You are on the right track with the grinder. I would put down blue painters tape and mark the cut out area with a marker. Take a grouting sponge, and get it fairly wet. Hold the sponge against the side of the grinder blade and "carefully" plunge cut, into the counter. Don't worry, you won't get...

The tile guy should be worried about it! If water beads on the surface, it "must" be ground. You might want to think about a different tile guy.

I'm certainly no expert, but when I get around to adding cabinets, they are going to be wall mounted. Impossible to clean under when they are on legs, plus it gives you a good place to store those long awkward things. I can't give you any help on mounting hardware depth, but I would think 1 1/2"...

I would think that going to a jackshaft opener, and then having the garage door tracks reworked should get you there. It appears from your picture that there's at least a foot of vertical space above your door before the 12x12" box out starts. If that's the case, you should be able to swap out...
