Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Some years ago I was changing the light fixture in our bathroom… I was just thinking to myself: So nice to have proper light when working for a change, when I cut the still live wire going to the lamp I was replacing! Mind you, in Denmark we have 230 volts in the regular outlets, 400 volts for...

The Volvo Bunker: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Basement.

Very nice shop! I also have a basement garage and shop... No car in it at the moment, but can you guess which Volvo I had from looking at my name? :-) For the moment, I have to settle for wrencing on my dads Volvo 903 (Valp)... It was made for the Swedish Military, looks like this: The car...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

Sure, there is at least one Dane here! I take it that you won't be passing Chris's test if you don't even remember post #1422! But seriously, good job on the shop. All I have is a measly one car garage (where my car don't fit!) and a small shop in the basement. [...and doors have been...

Quality of Work - The TV Shows

I also like Wheeler Dealers, all though Mike Brewer can sometimes make me want to smack him right in the mouth. I like the fact that most of what Edd does could be done at home, in my garage, with an acceptable (not perfect) result. I live in Denmark, and most of the cars I get to work on, they...

    Tools from the old world

I'm from Denmark, and I have a few Danish made tools... mostly screwdrivers and such. I'll try and get a few pics! The Danish made Irwin drills are actually very nicely made, and very effective.

Car falls off jack and kills a man

Just for the record, I never said that wooden blocks could not be used. They have all the qualities you would want from a support material. Only thing is, jackstands are often more convenient, as they are adjustable, sometimes take up less space, and so on. The most important thing is to make...

Car falls off jack and kills a man

At least he won't do i agian! On a more serious note: Jacks are used to lift a car. Once up in the air, ALWAYS use good jackstands! I know some people will shove a spare wheel under the frame, or use wooden blocks... But seriously, the few extra bucks spent on jackstands are cheap insurance. Do...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Hey Jack! That 962 is so cool! I remember the race that year, even though I was just a wee lad. Just wondering, though: The 962 was driven by Kris Nissen, Volker Weidler, and Kunimitsu Takahashi that year. If I recall correctly, they had a problem with burned psitons from running too lean...

What tools have you lost? What have you found?

last night I found a pair of pliers from a Toyota tool kit. Brand new, never been used, stamped "TOYOTA Japan". Once lost my entire tool collection when my parents' house was burgled. Many of my tools were my grandfathers, of no value to anyone but me. That sucked!

    Tools from the old world

Hazet "B-25" wrench i found at the flea market. Does somebody know what is it for ? That wrench looks just like the no-name wrenches we use when changing the co2 cylinders on beer and post-mix soda systems. Ours are real cheap, and we just leave them hanging on the co2 line, so they're always...
