I secured the first sheet of MDF by counter sinking screws to the frame. I then attached the top piece by...

    Glove box screwdriver?

The handles on those feel to bulky for me. I use a 10 in 1 daily at work. The nice thing about them is it has 1/4 and 5/16 nut driver. http://www.mytoolstore.com/klein/32477.html

    work benches... from scratch

I made this one out of 2x4's and mdf. The top is three layers of 3/4 inch mdf with dog holes drilled for clamps. It has 6 layers of poly with sanding in between each coat. 7 years old and still looks like new. the casters let me take it any where I want. It gets used every day.

    help me spend about $100

Grab the tool catalog. It will give you lots of time to decide. There is so much more in there than you can think. Check and see if you can use it at the auto center.

I agree. The leads I have can interchange between probe and alligator clip. I have several meters and still use the cheap one with the least bells and whistles the most.

    Epoxy over paint?

My carport has been painted by the previous owner. How could I remove the paint to apply epoxy, or is there a type of paint I could overlay without peel up? Thanks for any help.

please help me pick out a new cordless drill

One option, you can take the batteries to a local battery supply house and have them install new cells to get you by until you choose. I do this and it costs half of a new battery. I have to agree the new drills out perform the old ones.

    Pleased with my cheap T-8's!

The old t-12s had a magnetic ballast which was filled with a tar like fluid and was hard to start in the cold. The new t-8 ballasts are electronic. Just so you know if you have an old t-12 setup that has 4 foot bulbs you can just replace the ballast and the t-8s will fit. The ends (tombstones)...
