    Harry J Epstein Day 2026

Budget limited (as always, but more so this year) but I'll be putting my order in in just over 1 month!

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT Kwik Fab's Small Shop

Maybe it is OCD, but it's also attention to detail!

Above 1200 Sq/FT From Urban Pie Factory To Mountain Barn

Ah, bringing some of nature's giants down to our level. A sweaty, dusty, possibly dangerous task that often brings us closer to our ancestors than most other tasks. And if your well-worn image of The Craftsman is any indicator, you've been able to get through the whole thing at least once. I...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Bald is Beautiful - 7k sq feet+ of Gruntledness

Man, seeing body-on-frame cars come together is always a treat! And that Aussie Volvo/Renault/Lotus (Volotault?) mash-up is an impressive '80s timewarp - those wheels just seal the deal.

I didn't reinvent the wheel, I reinvented the cube! :lol_hitti

Well, TBH I thought of that about halfway through the printing... and the pyramids likely would have printed faster, too. Perhaps time for me to break out of my simple shapes designing and experiment a bit more!

Latest print: a slew of 25mm cubes so the newly refinished cutting boards can "rest" while getting some air across their bottoms after oiling. Who doesn't like air across their bottom after oiling, after all?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

T'was yesterday, but still: Moved some scrap lumber, the wheelbarrow, and assorted others bits out of the way so we could get to the "fire-proof" (in quotes because while it's lined with firebrick, I'm not going to test it) filing cabinet. It likely weighs more than I do, but with a handtruck...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yesterday: Was told the car's charging schedule couldn't be changed from what it was to what it now should be without jumping through impossible (read $$) hoops. Went out, started car, changed schedule, gave follow-up report. All was well. Today (so far!): Was told there might be a bird in the...

Thanks for the tips and suggestions, all! I'll have to start borrowing my wife's kitchen scale...

Ok, school me: How do you all track how much of a spool you've used / got left? My slicing program helpfully calculates how much filament a given print will use (I'm guessing most programs do this nowadays) but the only method I've come up with for tracking spool usage is writing down what each...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

Started my second overnight print (a Pistenbully - aka a snow groomer, but R/C-sized) only to have this happen: Pretty sure that's a support portion that somehow pulled away from the main body (this is the cabin, on it's side) while printing. This was probably somewhere around 1-2AM, not that...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

At this point I've got nuttin'! No clicks, no whirs, no turning, no gnashing of gears... just a bunch of flashing lights that I'm trying to decode. I'm out of the 1-5 error code (yay?) but now the durn thing won't respond to any input. I can get by manually opening and closing the door for a...

They look ok to me - the door's only been installed for about 1 year. I can manually open and close the door by hand just fine. Other than terrible noises and metal flying into low earth orbit, how else does one tell that a torsion spring is busted?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Well, in fairness to Ram truck owners, the Mopar I refer to is the one in my avatar, and is from the 1960s...
