    Ooooops I did spell it wrong. Vulkem is the best stuff I have used. It smells really bad until it has cured. Not recommend for interior.

    Try using Vulcan instead of just caulk.

    Not starting anything here. But, is your son helping with the house projects?? It would be a great feeling knowing that you helped build the house you are living in.

    I use around two-three wraps and then put paste on everything. Has been working a lot better with the added paste.

    Not sure if my bricks are thicker. But, I have been using the same bricks for 23 years and they were in a 1970's fireplace insert that I moved into our basement.
