I do agree with everyone on this. It would have been safer to used some type of sleeve that fits over the jaws to press on.

Thank you for the comments. Yes the pipe was machined for this specific chuck, but the press plates could be used.

Thank you. I like to use gun oil and any type of automotive grease should work fine. I think moly thread lube would probably work well too.
