USB power points, anybody used them?

Does anybody know if the Leviton units with 2 NEMA 5-15 receptacles and the 2 USB power points can be split?

    Gedore: Toolgasm

I think Canadian Tire sold the Made in India Gedore for a while, mid-to-late 80's???? There are a couple of 6mm-23mm combination wrench sets at my work.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Once put a screwdriver down in the engine bay. Picked it up again not to long thereafter and burnt the $#!+ outta my hand......put it right across the battery terminals.

    T12 LED lighting in 8'

At my work I replaced all the 8' T12 lamps with 4' T8 lamps a few years ago. I did 183 fixtures. At the time there was an incentive from the local POCO to do it. I can't recall the brand, but the local distributor provided me a kit that allowed me to easily convert the 8' fixtures to 4'. I...

Knipex Mini mini bolt cutter failure

Music wire for me, all day every day. With the mini-cobolt I can and have cut up to 3mm for OT Chrome Silicon. It's a bit hard, and I prefer a full size bolt cutter for that wire, but the only mini-cobolts that failed, I made the critical error. I wish Knipex had a small diagonal cutter for...

Knipex Mini mini bolt cutter failure

I use those all day, every day cutting hard wire in spring making. I can easily cut up to 0.090" or up to 0.120" less easily. I've only broken one pair when I tried to use them more like pliers than cutters, my own damn fault. Based on the picture, I don't think there is anything wrong with...

    looking for a flashlight

Not cheap, but I like this for a light: http://r-pal.rtg.com/ Made in USA, very bright, well made and thought out. I've bought 3 of them, one for the tool box, one for the glove box, and one for a gift.

    make your own torque wrench!

The first time I ever rebuilt a motor, (1.5 liter VW rabbit???), I used a fish scale and a 3 foot breaker bar for a "torque wrench". Not the handiest of set-ups, but accurate enough, that motor ran for years. The flywheel nut even stayed on. I think it was 250 lb-ft. I had to put a 6'...

Proto USA reversible spline wrench broke first day of use

My thought is hydrogen embrittlement, as a consequence of improper heat treatment after plating.

    Babco tools?

I've bought a crapload of Knipex from them. Not quick, (they don't stock much), but the best pricing I could find in Canada. I'd use them again.

You ever get a deal so GOOD you feel BAD...?

A guy I know bought a guitar at a yardsale. I would have walked by it, it was marked at $2.00. He only had $1.00, (really, he had no cash with him), and the seller made the deal. The guitar was a ViviTone, made and signed by Lloyd Loar, and he flipped it for more than $10K. Yes, he knew...

    Centering your design

I put a racedeck floor in. With edge pieces on the front, right and left I come within an inch of the walls. I painted the edge of the floor and the poured concrete foundation black to hide the edges. Cut tiles at the back wall, all hidden by cabinets and benches....it all looks great.

When did Sears Canada Step Selling U.S. Made Tools?

Most of the Craftsman stuff I bought in Ontario, Canada in the mid-to-late-80's was Made in Japan. Today....not so much. The only craftsman hand tool I ever broke was a 1/2" breaker bar. I was trying to loosen a nut in a junkyard. I ended up using a fence post as a cheater, and broke the...
