High Lift Garage Door Conversion - Cable Routing

I’m tempted to try moving the rails outward, pushing the pulleys outward as far possible, and sloping the rails upsward. By my calcs, the rails would be sloped upward about 4.8 degrees (6” rise over 72”).

High Lift Garage Door Conversion - Cable Routing

This one ran me $1,350 from a company I've used a number of times for garage door related items, but never had them do anything this extensive. They replaced the entire rail setup, removed and reinstalled the opener, replaced a few hinges and all that. I'm not 100% happy with the install, and...

High Lift Garage Door Conversion - Cable Routing

I just had my 18'x8' garage door setup converted to a high lift to clear my new 4 post lift. My garage has 10' ceilings, and the installers said they were able to get 13" of lift (which wasn't as much as I hoped, but that's a different story). The cables that run to the drums on the torsion bar...

Jackshaft opener, garage door top seciton gap, and raising garage door rails

Thanks for that! I'm definitely going to give that a shot. Just need to get the raw materials together. First thing, though, the lift is going to be ready for pick up earlier than I thought. I was figuring it would be sometime next week or the week after. Looks like it may be as early as this...

Jackshaft opener, garage door top seciton gap, and raising garage door rails

ok - that makes sense then. He said parts would run roughly $300 with $500 in labor. I've never done it before, and wouldn't mind doing it; however I have enough projects to get done. I'll likely end up having them do it - I just wanted a sanity check on the quote. First I want to get the lift...

Jackshaft opener, garage door top seciton gap, and raising garage door rails

A couple of questions I'm hoping you guys can help me with. Our garage has a 10' ceiling with 8' high doors. We are nearing the end of a project to raise a 17' x 17' section of the garage ceiling to 12.5' for a 4 post lift install. That area of the garage has an 18' x 8' garage door, so we...

    Concrete sealer instead of coating?

I just don't want to mess with scratching, peeling, or lifting. That's why I'm staying away from coatings right now. That stuff looks good, though. I thought about trying to acid stain the concrete before I apply this sealer, but I decided against it. I actually like the look of the concrete...

    Concrete sealer instead of coating?

I called the company the other day. I talked to a rep for a very long time. We discussed epoxy at length, but he recommended the Industra Seal 117 for me since I do a lot of work in the garage, and I'm not so concered with covering up the appearance of the existing concrete. He did mention...

    Concrete sealer instead of coating?

I'm looking for something to keep the concrete floor in my garage from dusting, staining, and just to keep it looking good. Right now, it looks fairly crappy with oil, brake fluid, and coolant stains. I have considered epoxy coatings, but between the jack, jackstands, lathe, welding...
