I like the idea of using a container. Biggest problem is with price, and you already have that figured out. I think in todays 'designer' world, one could paint and landscape it so it looks 'right'. Not sure if you can build the same size for the price, plus you need to figure a month of weekends...
Sorry for your loss as well as everyone that has been in the path of this inferno. My shop burnt to the ground just a little over a year ago (10/14/17). I lost 3 generations of contracting equipment, more hand tools than I could think of, a project car I was working, etc. I had 2 insurance...
llwillysfan is correct. We pour in MD year round also, though Im sure ME gets much colder weather. Its not ideal but can be done. Around my parts one can rent concrete blankets, you might want to check with some industrial rental companies in your town. Give plenty of advance notice though as...
Kerosene torpedo should be at the top of the list for your situation. They do put out moisture but I have never seen one put out so much that there is condensation. They do put off bad odors as well but if the building is not sealed that shouldn't be too bad to run on cycles. I had a couple of...
No offense but I wouldn't use any of those. Many years ago I was on a contraption like that that collapsed. I fell about 20 feet and hit sand, my brother hit rock. Shattered his ankle, broke a leg and dislocated hip. Ankle was fused, he was out of work for well over a year and still cant walk...
Price seems in line. 9' doors are gonna drive the price. I priced a basic insulated 9' door from HD and it was over $800. Add glass and price goes up. I was planning on using custom track in my shop with cathedral ceiling and the install guy said it wouldn't add that much cost. I dont think the...
Doesn't sound too much out of line. As long as your dimensions that you provide are correct there is nothing wrong with hd or lowes. Dont use wood for any reason though. Too many good choices out there now in steel and fiberglass. Just like about anything, price depends on what 'frills' you...
Only problem with 57's is they wont compact. That's ok for the top layer which will allow drainage. I would def. use something that will compact better for that amount of fill you need.
Im a cabinetmaker by trade and wood cabinets have served me well over the years. A good coat of latex paint, or clear poly is fine. Nothing wrong with metal either, just a lot easier and cheaper to make my own.
I wish I could afford to take off in the cold weather and head south, but I cant so we keep working year round. Is it always ideal? NO, is it always fun? NO, but you gotta do what you gotta do. IF you want your building finished keep moving forward. Get a decent pair of carharts and a warm pair...
Many years ago I did layout with a cloth tape. I learned the hard way. They stretch way too much. Stick with a steel tape. The cloth ones are good for rough layout to get batter boards close, and landscaping but def not finish work.
Brooklyn NY? WOW your rates are cheap there! Out in my part of the country it would cost at least 600-800 just to pay the dump fee. Another 150 for the dumpster rental pickup and deliver. Not to mention conveying the debris down 3 floors! I wouldn't touch the job for less than 5k. Sounds like...
Mine has been installed for over 2 years now and still works as good as the day it was installed. I dont use the apps or anything fancy, just the button on the wall and the button in the car. I was under the impression they stopped selling these!
