Does using a ratcheting torque wrench as a regular ratchet wrench really miscalibrate it?

I've been waxing my chains since I built up my first "serious" bike - a Mikkelsen filet brazed SL/SP frame with full Dura Ace components back in ~87. Anecdotal, I know, but I have never worn out a chain ring or a cassette on any of my bikes. Chains, of course, are consumables.

Does using a ratcheting torque wrench as a regular ratchet wrench really miscalibrate it?

The "traditional rule" is that you don't wear a hat indoors. Reinforced by the military - get caught outside without your hat, you get dinged. Wear your hat indoors, you get dinged. By the way, cowboy hats are a great equalizer - they make everyone look stupid...

need a portable battery jumper- how many amps do I need?

Thanks guys. I'm not questioning the effectiveness of these jump packs. I've had a "Pilot" model that HD used to sell for years, but it died (batteries swelled up so much that it split the case apart). Hence the Amazon purchase. My question is how they can claim 3-4,000 Amps of peak current...

need a portable battery jumper- how many amps do I need?

Can anyone explain how these jump packs put out a claimed 3,000 to 4,000 Amps of peak current? I bought a Jump pack off of Amazon and left a review that the claimed peak current of 3,000 Amps was pure BS. Manufacture's rep contacted me and offered to send me a free pack with 4,000! Amps of...

    2022 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

Yeah, I missed it too the first time through. There's a light green banner that says "Free gift with purchase." If you click on the banner, the free battery and charger pop up. Lowes would probably sell a lot more if they didn't "hide" the deal.

    2022 Lowe's deals/sales/clearance thread

As Crabman said, good deal - includes a free Core (21700 cells) 4Ah battery and a charger. Just ordered 1 - Lowes says I saved $179.00 - Hah. This brings my Bosch stash to 3 chargers, 3 Core 8Ah and 4 Core 4Ah batteries. Deal is good through Oct 19th.

Best Ratcheting Screwdriver? New to the forum

I've got a couple of the Vessel Ball Grip ratcheting drivers which I quite like along with 5 long interchangeable blades. You can pop the ratcheting ball heads off and use them as stubby drivers with just about any bit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019C821PC/?tag=atomicindus08-20

3/8 Metric socket set WITH CASE

Thanks, I guess that makes sense. I don't think Thorsen has made anything in the USA for over thirty years. I get kinda frosted when I see chinese junk being marketed under the Thorsen name. As I said earlier, I really like the set of Thorsen combo wrenches that I bought back in the early...

3/8 Metric socket set WITH CASE

So, who makes it? According to Alloy Artifacts "an annual report for 2000 listed Thorsen Tool as a value-added distributor, with tools sourced primarily from Asia." As far as I know Thorsen ceased being a tool manufacturer decades ago. Everything I've seen in recent years with the Thorsen...

3/8 Metric socket set WITH CASE

That's a shame - Thorsen used to be good tools - a set of metric combo wrenches I bought in the early '70's is still my "go-to" set. Now the Thorsen name is just slapped on chinesium junk.

Bosch "Freak" brushless GDX18V-1800 at Lowes for $99.00

Found another comparison of the 1800 and the 1860 on the ProTools Review site. Looks like a worthwhile increase in torque:

Deal Expired - Wera Zyklop (05004048001 8100 SB 8) Ratchet Set Ratchet, 3/8" Drive, Metric, 29 Pieces $99

That might be handy if you were using it as a spinner with a T-handle, but the set doesn't include a T-handle and I can hold the shaft as it turns in my hand, so the sleeves still puzzle me. I don't see their usefulness.
