    Why do electricians leave

My grandfather and his brother owned a large commercial HVAC company in the 1950's through the 1980's. My grandfather's brother, Earl, was a real penny pincher..... In the early 1990's I was an apprentice in the HVAC business and one of the old journeyman that I was working with at that time...

Can we completely replace our combo wrenches with ratcheting ones yet?

You can still own more than one set of wrenches without carrying every wrench set you own, every where you go, every time you leave your home/shop/vehicle. I don't carry every tool I own everywhere I go.... Do you?

Can we completely replace our combo wrenches with ratcheting ones yet?

No. Why would you "replace" when you can just "add" to your tool box? There is nothing wrong with owning more than one wrench set. Is this even a serious question? lolol.

I am going broke buying duplicates of tools

I am the same way.... However, I don't see this as a problem, I see it as a feature because it allows me to buy more tools without feeling guilty about it. lol. Eventually I will find the misplaced tools and I will put them with the replacement tools.... Now I don't have to worry about...

    HF Fuel Transfer Pump

I have two of them and both work great. Going on two years of use at this point. One of them has a slight leak where the tube meets the pump body but other than that, both still pump fuel as intended. They are battery operated, both are still using their original set of batteries. Can't beat...

Am I the one over reacting? Mr Heater vent pipe install

B-vent does not leak carbon monoxide unless it starts to rot away from corrosion..... which is possible, especially on horizontal runs... but that can take many years to decades to happen. I installed my Reznor garage heater over 20 years ago and I used B-vent for my horizontal run. (I am a...

tool allowances for techs starting their careers = great idea

I am spoiled.... I have worked for cheap companies like you mentioned above..... And I have worked for companies who LOVE to spend money. The last company I worked for, a small family owned business, the owner LOVED buying the best of everything, and lots of it. We went without nothing. If...

Suggestions for wireless control of small pump?

How cheap are you looking to go? There are a BUNCH of cheap generic wireless remote control devices on Amazon that you can use to control just about anything. For example: https://www.amazon.com/QIACHIP-Universal-Wireless-Transmitter-Momentary/dp/B083GRC5P7/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Wire this...

Did you take the cover off for the picture, or is the cover missing? If there is no cover, I'd start over with a new panel.

Should I wire a welder plug up to handle an EV?

As for the original topic of this thread.... Both of the 6-50r welding outlets in my shop were installed with #6 THHN on 50 amp breakers. I did the work myself 20+ years ago. I know you can legally run smaller wire on welding circuits but I figured true 50amp outlets would be good to have...

Adding a second A/C unit to cool upstairs

That is one of the first things I learned as a young Tinner apprentice. It's basically day #1 of HVAC Tinner 101..... "NEVER put a take-off on the end of a trunk line." It's a good indicator of the quality of installers that worked on your house. Unfortunately.
