VCT will stand up well to spilled fluids, as long as they are sealed with a min 3 coats of wax or a clear epoxy it will not migrate into the joints. Snap together flooring will also stand up well to spilled fluids, but there is no way to stop the fluids from migrating into the joints.

Fiberglass is fairly brittle and would not fare well over time and abuse.

I share your exact story, aside from location... I use mostly Dewalt 18v tools, so the charger is nice to have without taking up additional bench space. I have no complaints at all.
