Carroll Jamieson is widely considered to have been in the upper tier of tool room lathes of the early 20th century. CJ is often discussed in the same light as Hendey, Lodge and Shipley, Monarch. Even with a little wear due to a long life, it could still perform very nice work in a home or...
Hoorn, thank you, thats interesting. The serial is 3-5500. The slow-speed I posted above is a 7-3600 which I think I dated to 40-41. It has the triangle badge. But I am not a Delta expert by any stretch. I'll start checking out the badges more closely. I also wonder if serial numbers and...
My Delta Slow Speed. I believe it is a 1940. I changed the bearings on this one. The fast speed above I did not as its only 2 thou out. This one is 3 thou with the new bearings. Factory tolerance was 5 thousands. I really love drilling holes with these machines.
I pulled this 1937-38 Delta out of a scrap pile. The spindle was pulled. I took it home on friday and cleaned it, and the original paint is absolutely perfect. I put in a spare spindle and the run out is 2 thou. Original motor purs. I got real luck. Can't believe someone would give up on...
Thanks, RBarnes!
I always wanted a Tie Bar Hendey and was glad to find one fairly close by. I has so many machines in the Queue that I slept on this one too long and the PO parted out many pieces. It took me about a year to get it back together minus the last gear covers. As I did with my...
MacGee,
These ways were originally scraped. Hendey was at the top of the game during this time period. There are some old pictures floating around of the factory floor with the scraping department hard at work. Hendey was also the first lathe company to utilize a quick change gear box. It is...
Thanks guys. Lots of great machines this thread. Im a sucker for this stuff. I haven't totally set up my work space around this machine. I do most of my work on a smaller Dalton. But I am slowing getting this dialed. I appreciate the interest. I have restored a lot of machines however I...
Been awhile so I figured I post. I repowered with a vintage DriveAll and Wagner induction 2PH. Its running nice. 1911 Hendey 12". Love this thread. it's new favourite!
I love old Century motors. I have never rebuilt one but I think they are much the same as the Wagner internally. I found one that is not the right price but may just have to save it.
Im really into these right now. I would like this to be a thread for people to post their Repulsion Induction motors or antique, rare or interesting motors that they have restored or use. We all have stashes of spare motors in our ratholes and we also have some real beauties powering our...
Been awhile since I popped in, figured I would try to add to the conversation. And being that Drill presses are my favourite tools, I have always loved this thread! Its funny, I was looking at pictures of the Atlas the other day ( I secretly love Atlas, craftsman-badge Atlas and Power King)...
