Little things
Even with good dust collection those machines will still generate some fine saw dust that will cover everything. Any way you can try to keep to big dust making power tools in a separate room to limit the amount of dust? Then again is this just going to be wood/machine shop...

I edged mine with a lip and let gravity hold it in place. To get it out I have holes drilled through the base and I push from the bottom lifting the hardboard. Works very well for me.
