Pole Barn VS Steel Building Pros and Cons?

Partly depends on climate. In IL where RR buildings are it gets cold enough that termites are not a problem. So they use mostly wood in framing their buildings. Also, up there they can have condensation problems... hot building + cold exterior = condensation on the interior. Meanwhile in TX...

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

If you were to re-do your setup is there anything you would do different? I've got an AKG in the mail and a Quincy 60 gallon in my cart waiting for a sale. Things like mounting fans differently, different pipe fittings... Thanks!

    Not exactly tools...plate caster wheels???

Lowe's and Home Depot sell urethane and steel casters. I just put a 690 lb lista on urethane casters from Woodcraft, it moves with a slight touch now.

    Lifting my shop??

Any building mover can handle lifting a pole barn in a day. I've been around while two have been moved / raised. They were handled about like the video that jimmyfloyd posted, except with a central hydraulic pump to raise the building and steel beams for cross building bracing. If the poles are...

Good Pawn Shops in Austin, TX for Tools?

OK, just stopped by Austin appliance and they're out of the tool business. Also check eBay for anything within 100 miles of 78751, there are a few surplus dealers in the area. I just found a lista cabinet that way.

Good Pawn Shops in Austin, TX for Tools?

The Austin Appliance & Tools on brown lane is hit or miss... I usually stop by most saturdays and it is pretty well picked over. They buy returns to HD & Sears, fix them, and sell them. Great spot for saw Diablo blades though. A lot of pawn shops advertise on CL.

    Old Hog House Revival Thread....

As someone that grew up on a farm in Iowa the only thing you want behind a north facing door should be a snowplow or snow blower. Doors on the south or east work best. The verticals on either side of the walkway look pretty integrated with the rafters, yikes.

    Zoro Deals Thread

I have pretty good luck with searching on grainger, taking the grainger # and searching for that on zoro. Works for things like fittings and screws. Grainger has a nice drill down menu, where zoro has an interface dating from 1998. For short-line manufacturers like Kreg or FastCap I'll just...

Need to find antena for internet. No not wireless

You might have WiFi with yagi / directional antennas. You would be able to connect to them using WiFi directly between them. Not 100% positive, but I've used yagis before for WiFi links up to 5 miles. (Any more than that and you have to go with parabolic dishes). People have built things like...
